The Boys Went Racing...

Yeah, I know I still need to recap my racing adventures in Charlotte from this past May... but in the meantime, a recap of this past weekend's events at NHIS NHMS (that whole I to M thing just doesn't sound right).

I won't bore you with a very long post or too many pictures, but if you know me at all, you know I was thrilled to see Tony win the Nationwide race on Saturday! Our seats for Saturday are right on the start / finish line so I had a nice view...from driver introductions to pit stops to the winner's circle...

TonyStewart_62808

TonyStewart_62808_victoryF

I'm also a huge Scott Wimmer fan and so very glad to see him in the car (not Jeff Burton... no offense, but he has a full time Cup ride and does not need to share Wimmer's only ride, thank you very much).

WimmerPitStop_62808

I also love Stanton Barrett (no need to point it out if you sense my theme here). His team, and the whole NASCAR community, suffered a very unfortunate and tragic loss last week. Rest in Peace Ardy...

I don't think we ever even took the camera out of the bag on Sunday during the Cup race... but I did catch up with Aric Amirola Saturday afternoon... if you sense my theme above, I think you can probably guess he might be added to my list of drivers to route for. ;-)

Not a very flattering pic of me, but I'll share anyway...

I promise to get some Charlotte racing pics up sometime before I go back next May soon!

We're Back!

We're back from our vacation where our swaggy hotel cost more than Mom & Dad's!

All4_51808b

Mom says she's swamped with work but plans to start downloading vacation photos and posting on the blog soon... we even heard that she cheated on us and hung out with Dale Earnhardt Jr's dog Killer while she was away! Hmm... what's up with that??!! We want to hang out with Killer too... (Mom didn't take this picture... but its the only one we could find online of Killer)

DaleJrKiller

Mom says she'll be back to the land of blogging really soon.... and she promises to post more pictures of us too!

Lots of kisses & high-fives,

5 Years Ago Today...

... a dream came to an abrupt and unexpected end... a friend fought for his live.... lives were forever changed.

Former NASCAR driver's painful recovery
Five years after a harrowing crash at Richmond International Raceway, former NASCAR driver Jerry Nadeau is still trying to pick up the pieces.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Pictures, posters and other keepsakes adorn a wall in Jerry Nadeau's office. Helmets, diecast cars and T-shirts sit on shelves, untouched except by dust.

Among this montage of memories, two framed items stand out. One is a photo of Nadeau's car beside runner-up Dale Earnhardt's black No. 3 moments after Nadeau had won the 2000 season finale at Atlanta. Earnhardt's left hand juts out of his car, his index finger saluting Nadeau on his first and only NASCAR Winston Cup victory.

"That is the ultimate picture," Nadeau says with a widening grin.

Below that photo is a newspaper clipping from the race. A large picture captures him in Victory Lane, cheeks rosy and bulging smile toothy.

His right hand and that of teammate Jeff Gordon are clasped in celebration.
The headline proclaims: "Happily ever after."

If only it was true.

A head injury suffered five years ago today in a crash at Richmond International Raceway turned Nadeau's ultra-focused life into tumult.

Racing defined Nadeau, and even today, he still struggles to accept that he'll never compete in NASCAR's top series again.

To continue on, you
can find the full article here.

Some people know that I was a huge supporter of Jerry and I ran the "Get Jerry Noticed" program and then later, Team Nadeau. I've met a couple of my bestest friends because of the Jerry work I did....

I usually get to see him about once a year now and hope to be able to catch up with him later this month. Here's the only photo I can find at the moment (or rather, the only one I remembered to upload to Flickr)...

Jer_Nic

One thing the above article failed to note was Jerry has a beautiful 5 year old daughter... she was born in February, just a few months before her Dad's accident.

Natalie_1007

Jerry is a constant reminder to me that Life is Too Short... never put off tomorrow what you can do today! And to Jerry... I know you'll find that spark and get motivated again.

Scott Rocked Nashville!!!

Most of you know I'm a NASCAR fan... most of you know I'm a Tony Stewart (he's usually in the news for doing something controversial easy to blog about) & Ryan Newman fan, but you may not know that I'm also a huge fan of Scott Wimmer! Well... Scott won today in the Busch Nationwide Series race at Nashville -- his first win since 2003!!!! I think I had something to do with it ... well okay, maybe not really, but I was wearing my Scott Wimmer fan club t-shirt today (under my "Owner of a Rescued Dog" sweatshirt, but that's not important..) and I think this is actually the first time I have worn this shirt! Coincedence?!?! Good luck charm??? hmmm...

Way to go Scott!
wimmer_wins_32208 wimmer_WIN_32208

While watching the race, I made good use of my time by knitting on Clapotis making more stitch markers, which will soon be available in my Etsy shop! These are the ones I was finishing as Scott took the checkers ...

Happy Spay Day!

Its Spay Day in the USA!
Check out this video with Ryan Newman....

Don't forget to spay & neutur your pets... and please remember to vote for our kids in the HSUS Spay Day photo contest (links at top of the blog)!

Congrats Ryan!

Congratulations to Ryan Newman for winning the Daytona 500 yesterday!

While I surely would have loved to have seen Tony win, I'm also a huge Ryan fan & supporter! Ryan & his wife Krissie run a fantastic foundation that supports something near and dear to my heart - homeless animals! They are truly down to earth, class acts and so deserving of such a great start to the 2008 season! Congratulations!

And a Snowy Friday too

Yes folks, its snowing... still, or again, or whatever you want to call it. Just flurries, so nothing too major, except to muck up the roads, cause the elderly to drive at turtle speeds and cause the annoying men in their F150's to tailgate and almost rear end you... yes, I had a lovely drive in to work this morning... and now I get to go out on the road for the rest of the day... yippy friggin skippy!

For those of you enjoying a nice hot cup of coffee or tea in the comfort of your own homes today, please knit some for me and Grommit too...

grommit2_large

While you're at it, head on over to Bark 'n Knit for a fun little Valentine's Day contest and please do tell her I sent you.

I bet all my fellow NASCAR fans are psyched that we're back in action this weekend, right?? The Bud Shootout is tomorrow night... go Tony, go!

Let's go racing boys........... TGIF!

Quote for the week!

"This one's for every one of those fans in the stands who pull for me every week and take all all the bullshit from everybody else..." -- Tony Stewart after winning Indy on Sunday, 7/29/07

IndyWin72907

And that's why I love him... you'll never hear any other NASCAR driver be so brutally honest and always say what he wants, no matter what the pr people tell him to say....

IndyWin72907c

So... I haven't had a chance to download the Maine Yarn Crawl pics yet, but will get to that later in the week... a few quick updates...

Mom ~ Thank you all for the well wishes and thoughts for my Mom this week. It really means a lot to me and I can't wait for Mom to get back to her computer and catch up on the blog & your comments! She is doing much, much better and feels much, much better. She'll be in the hospital at least thru the end of the week, as they continue to give her antibiotics thru IV and other things to get her healthy and send that nasty infection away. She had a blood transfusion on Sunday. The cat scan showed that things were clearing up nicely yesterday... yet still no definite cause for the infection at this point. More tests today, including the colonoscopy.
Tuesday Afternoon Update... Mom is scheduled for surgery tomorrow afternoon to remove part of her colon, which will then be sent out for testing.... please keep her in your thoughts!

Bella ~ I heard from Bella's new Mom and found out they've changed her name to Cotton. It sounds like she sure is keeping them on their toes! They've enrolled her in obedience classes and things are going well thus far. Bella (sorry, hard to get used to Cotton) even climbed
Mt. Tecumseh with them last week!

That's all for now... though I did just find out that I won (yea, I couldn't believe it either!) a contest that my Secret Pal 10 host had at the end of the round... can't wait to see what it is! I promise the Maine yarn crawl post very soon! I will leave you in suspense by telling you that our route was
The Knitting Experience Cafe then Purl Diva then Ewe & Me and finally, Halcyon where we had our Double Knitting class!

Knit Fast... Turn Left!

I wonder how many racing knitters we have out there? No, I don't mean those that you just want to smack because they knit a sweater in 3 days who knit insanely fast ... I mean knitters who are fans of NASCAR or other forms of racing?? I know there's some... I even spotted a lady knitting while sitting outside her RV as we were driving in to the race on Saturday (not quick enough with the camera for proof though). Speaking of the race, I'll start with a brief recap of last weekend, brought to you in picture form...

Saturday... Busch Race

Scott Wimmer (one of my faves!) got an award and posed with some of NH's finest...

ScottWimmer_63007

Kevin Harvick was on the pole (he went on to win the race)...
KevinHarvick_63007

Everyone cheered when Juan Pablo (who is unworthy of being linked from my blog!) wrecked out of the race and had to get pushed behind the wall... Buh-Bye!!
ByeBye42

The temps were in the low 70's and the sky was beautiful all day...

nhis63007

Sunday... Cup Race

Its ironic that the best photo I got from driver introductions was of Don-Juan-Dumbass and
Dale Jr...
DaleJr_7107

Temps were rather chilly, high 60's ... and the treat of rain lingered all day long. For much of the race, the skies looked like this...

100_4402

Some of the day (long enough for me to get some friggin' sunburn on my face) looked more like this...
100_4403

So now that the major series racing is over in New Hampshire until September... I will return you to our regularly scheduled program.... knitting (and yes, dogs too...)!

I finished my first Bob Marley's Grandma Footsies sock...

BMsock1

I'm using Sereknity merino/tencel blend in Triple Scoop. These would be a very quick knit if I actually knit them and stopped treating them like a red headed step child worked on them more often.... but it is a sort of boring, mindless knit. I will cast on the mate this week...

I picked up my shaped alpaca scarf to work some more rounds (no rush for this to be done... so long as I have it finished in time for fall) and cast on the Cabin Fever tank top and worked a few rounds.

WIP7307

It's really not much to see... The scarf doesn't look any bigger than my last posting of it (even though I've worked quite a few more rounds). The tank doesn't look like anything, but at least you can see the colorway I'm using. Since my WIP's aren't all that interesting, I've got some eye candy for you (no, not more pictures of sexy NASCAR drivers...)...

My recent order from the wonderful Loopy Eye arrived...

loopy707

On the left is the clever Duet Sock Yarn in merlot (multi color skein with coordinating solid color to do contrasting toes & heels - brilliant!) and on the right is the vibrant Stone Barn Fibers sock yarn in Tainted Love. You like? You can get your very own by click on this button...

The Loopy Ewe

The Loopy Ewe is a one stop shopping for hand dyed sock yarns... customer service is superb and the perks are an added bonus (see their Frequent Shopper Benefits & The Loopy Groupie Club)!

Some more eye candy... I noticed a couple of day lilies in bloom on the side of the house...

flower

Of course, no post is complete without doggy photos, right? I rearranged the top of the collectible cabinet about a week ago (I needed a new place for these 3 framed doggy photos and yes, there might be one too many candles up there but I ran out of time to organize other areas)...

livingroomcorner

The dogs got a new, longer lead for when they're in the front yard and are happier than a pig in poop certainly enjoying it. Before they could reach about half way across the driveway and not far enough down to reach the maple tree with all of the inticing bird feeders... now Teutul wants to show you this...

Tut_7207b

They can get all the way across to the grass on the other side of the driveway... about half way down the driveway... to the maple tree... around the side of the house to the overgrown lilac/weed bush (they've sort of intermingled - we really need to rip them out!). Yes, they are loving life... they will be loving life even more once their Daddy finishes the fence in the back yard! Then they can all love life outside... together!!!! And Mommy can love life too when she can sit and knit on the back porch while the 3 musketeers romp and play and wear each other out!

Dottie Update!

Dottie's new Mom left a comment on this post but I wanted to cross post it here, since I know a lot of people don't go back to read old comments...

Dottie Update!

Hi Everyone! I'm just blown away with all the warm wishes for my little girl, Dottie! She's settling nicely in her new home with her 3 brothers, 'Jack', and my 2 sons Cody and Kyle :-) She loves to cuddle and sleeps close to us. She's an absolute LOVE DOG! Both her and Jack also like to nap together... She has been nothing but a joy to our family! ...And yes... I must admit, I do spoil her a bit!

Ciao for now!Brenda, Gary, Cody, Kyle, Jack & Dottie :-)

Here are a couple of photos Brenda sent to me (Hey Brenda, I'm still waiting on a Jack & Dottie pic - lol!)...

Don't you love her new pink collar with the paw prints?? So perfect for the girly-girl!

Well, its back to work after a weekend of racing at NHIS ... but only for 2 days and then I'm off for the rest of the week - yea!!! It was definitely a lot cooler than usual for our July race - I'd even actually say we had some cold moments... but I'll take having to throw on a sweatshirt at a race anytime over the usual sweltering 100 degree days up at the track! See the video here... and yes, I did get some knitting done (working on my radiant lace headband) yesterday while tailgating before the race, see?

Great early 4th of July news for Heather... Jason's home!!!! Yea! I know its going to be a wonderful Independence Day for that family!

Vacation Recap!

Ok, this might be a bit of a long post... but I do have a lot of photos to get your through all the blah-blahing keep your attention! ;-)

Overall, vacation was good. Great weather - first time we saw no rain in a long time, and the temps were cooler than usual which was nice, though it was still hot! Only complaint, just much too short and we ran out of time to see everyone & everything! We spent time with friends, ate lots of yummy (read: fattening!) food, got depressed when some clothing wouldn't fit, shopped, visited a winery (sadly its a friggin' pain in the backside not so easy to lug it home anymore now that you can't carry it on the plane), visited some race shops, and oh yea, saw some racing (and
Casey's first win!)...

We met up with Jada &
Natalie (my first blog post was quite boring, huh?) and the boys for lunch on Wednesday (thanks again for lunch JJ!). Always great spending time with them - and my how the kids grow so quickly! Also got to see Jerry when he came to pick up Nat.

NicNatalieJada_52307

Teri (one of my dearest and bestest friends who sadly lives all the way in PA and really needs to consider the next big campus opening in New England!) & Brenda, who are both blogless, though I bet they could each write some entertaining blogs, came in late on Wednesday. Our first adventure out this year was The Penguin for lunch on Thursday. Both Teri & I had somehow happened upon catching the episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on Food Network that had featured The Penguin just a few days before we headed to Charlotte... I text Teri, "Must go to this place The Penguin" - she texts back, "Yup, saw that too, already told Brenda! - call it fate??? It became a must find, after all their fried pickles were supposed to be the best in town. Once just a bar, some biker dudes bought it out and have been serving up unique & amazing diner food ever since. Here are the famous fried pickles and us out front (notice the old time sign in the background?)...

PenguinFriedPickels

BrendaNicTeri_52407

Can you say YUM-O??!! These fried pickles were delicious in all their gressy yumminess! All of the food was yummy and the place was packed... on a Thursday at 1:45! We had to wait about 20 minutes before getting a table, but had some great entertainment between the Harley hostess and the locals who wanted to chat about old-time racing, and... well... the signs posted in the window...

Anyone know what a shnouzer is (a Benji looking one at that)?? :) And describe the sweet dog who was found... um, 4 legs, a tail, and sweet?

We headed off to catch qualifying Thursday night... Kenny "Herman" Wallace was doing a mighty fine job of hawking his new book in the lobby when we went in to the track gift shop.... "c'mon now... $23.95... get my book... over here, to the left... line is over here, to the left... why you staring at me - get in line, over here... to the left ... just $23.95! oh look... a dale jr fan... Jr wrote an introduction in my book, here let me read some of it to you..." (Kenny could sell rain coats in the desert!) Anyone who knows NASCAR knows what a riot Kenny is... we've met him a few times before and I must say, he's never disappointed...

KennyNichole_52407

With all the paparazzi in the news lately, have you ever wondered who might have it worse than Paris, Nicole and Lindsay? How about NASCAR drivers after just breaking a track record and putting themselves on the provisional pole (the pole was captured later in the evening by Ryan Newman)? (to save space I put together this collage of photos I took instead of posting multiple photos - if you want a copy, let me know!)

Sadler

To all those untalented wastes of tv time "misguided" girls..., stop your whining and start doing something legal to warrant the press coverage you do get.

More time was spent with friends, including lunch (didn't I say we ate well in Charlotte?) with my long time friend Melanie (thanks again for the great tour of the new shop!), at a yummy BBQ place, Sonny's.

NicholeMelanie_52507

Oh yes, and there was a 600 mile race ... not exactly the most appropriate for first timers like Brenda's brother & his wife, but they were troopers throughout the long day & night! Here's "the girls" (Teri, Brenda, me) with our annual "Budget Sun Shade" photo...

TeriBrendaNic_umbrellas52707

I wasn't really thrilled with the photos from this year's trip and don't really have one of Matt & I that I like, but just to prove I did take him with me...

MattNichole_52707

Oh yea, and the shopping... we actually did pretty well (read: no overuse of the credit cards) this year. We both got some new race-related shirts on sales & markdowns. I passed up the cute top in the Harley store because it was $60 and I didn't need it (and no, we don't own a harley or a bike for that matter, but its fun to poke in the big shops and some of their clothing & shoes are actually pretty cool). I even - gasp! - passed on the really cute sandals in the same Harley store because, again, I didn't need them... this whole "what do I really need" budgeting thing kinda stinks, but I'm learning even if really slowly.

Of course I did need some yarn because after all, its impoliet to browse thru a yarn shop and not buy anything, right? After a failed attempt at trying to find a little yarn shop in Matthews and finally realizing it had closed "some time ago," I learned. I called the 2nd (and closer to the hotel - only about 8 minutes away!) shop I had directions for before visiting... and they were alive & kicking! Charlotte Yarn, as mentioned in my last post, was a great little shop with lots of nice yarns. Nothing local or really different, but I did walk out with this...

CharlotteYarn

A lacey scarf pattern (which is from a woman in MA who's patterns I've never happened upon up this way - go figure!) and some gorgeous Blue Sky Alpca & Silk to make it. I also grabbed 2 skeins of Malabrigo in the Velvet Grapes colorway (this picture does not do it justice - its really vibrant!).

A trip to Charlotte is also not complete without a visit to Canine Cafe and a goody bag to bring home for the kids!

caninecafe

Some of the wonderful treats from Barbara's Catering, including peanut butter mega-bones, apple cinnamon duzin' donuts and pumpkin cinnamon (Zeus' favorite!) cookies.

I did get some knitting done on my ankle sock, but forgot to photo it. There wasn't a lot of progress, I knit on the plane on the way down and a little bit here and there, but for the most part there was too much going on to knit. I spent last night working on my homework swatches for tomorrow's Granite State Knit In. I need to finish 2 more, along with my hat for the donation/contest tonight...

knitinstuff

See some of you tomorrow! Time to get back to work (argh...)......

Vacation... much too short as always!

Just a quick post... back from vacation, which was definitely much too short! I will have photos to post later in the week as I sort through the piles and piles of stuff - both at work and at home. The piles are endless, esp at work. Laundry is a must. Though ahead of almost everything on the list would be to finish my hat and get my "homework" done for my class at the Granite State Knit-In this Saturday. I can't wait and am really looking forward to it! I'll be driving up with Joanne and Marlene and meeting some familiar faces there, including the wonderful Lisa (who - gasp! - almost forgot that the Knit In was this Saturday... but I can't speak too much on that because she reminded me about the hat thing when I mentioned having to do my homework... oops, almost forgot about finishing that!).

As I said, will have photos later in the week... including my small haul from
Charlotte Yarn. Not too much, as they did not really have anything local (same thing I ran in to last fall in VA ... I'm thinking we New England Knitters are a spoiled bunch with all the yummy local wools, hand dyed yarns and knitting notions we have readily available in our LYS).

On the racing front, one of my bestest friends Teri is thrilled that one of her men,
Casey Mears, won his first race thanks to a gamble on gas mileage! She got to see his first win though - which is very cool! Even cooler? Jimmie Johnson did NOT win in Charlotte again this year and we happened upon these folks on the way in to the race Sunday...

hate48

Gotta love race fans and their signs! Just wait until you see the doggy related signs I found at a hole-in-the-wall dinner we lunched at... (to come later in the week)

Even though the trip was too short, I did have something to put a smile on my face in my inbox upon my return (and of course, the big smile from seeing my own 4-legged children when we picked them up last night!)...

DusteeSmileDusteeYawn

Yup, that's "Little Man" Dustee! His Mom sent me a few new photos over the weekend and I just loved these two... the smile and the yawn, how perfectly Dustee! I also had a short update on Miss Trixie and hear that they'll be sending me some new pictures soon! It sounds like she's settling right in with her new family, being the cat-dog little princess and went for a grooming over the weekend. I hadn't heard about her since I had to drop her for the Massachusettes mandated quarantine, so it was extra nice to hear she's doing well!

Our 3 kids were more than happy to have Mommy & Daddy come pick them up from boarding last night and after a joyful ride home, promptly passed out. Guess all their 4-legged neighbors were barking a bit too much for their liking and took away some of their beauty rest for the past week!

Not sure if I'll make knitting guild tonight or not, but will see some of you at the Knit In on Saturday!

Apple Blossoms, Princesses & FO's... not for Mom!

First off, if you are my Mother, STOP reading here until after you get your Mother's Day package!

Mom, I said STOP...

Did you stop? Well, in case she's still reading, I'll start off with a picture of one thing I love about spring... and about the only time I can say I love having a friggin' apple orchard a dozen apple trees in the back yard...

Aren't apple blossoms beautiful? The other thing I love about spring is the robin's nest under our back porch (which gets renovated & used every year) and the 4 beautiful blue eggs. I saw the eggs 2 weeks ago, but am very sad to report that when I went to take a looksie at the beginning of the week, all of the eggs were gone. :( We're thinking that pesky cat that has been invading our yard and driving the dogs nuts stocking the birds at the feeders may have gotten at them. This is the first year since being in the house we won't have baby robins. Zeus has been doing a good job playing guard dog to the birdies out front, but sadly he couldn't keep the critters away from the eggs out back...

So mom did you stop reading? I hope so because I want to show off my latest FO, in time for Gina's FO Friday! I present to you, a Booga Bag which I've been knitting in "secret" since it is her Mother's Day gift and she reads my blog often (well, at least I hope she reads it often). I wasn't going to post it until next week, but anyone who knows me, knows I lack patience well, it is FO Friday, right?

Before the felting...

BagMomUNfelted

After felting and ready to use...
BoogaBagMomBoogaBagMomB

This was a fun and easy knit, which turned out a great little bag! I already have the Noro yarn ready to cast on for my own bag, and can see myself making more of these for gifts in the future (feel free to send me your 'hint' that you might like one, as knitting things for friends that they will actually use / want is always a plus!). Mom had actually requested the pattern and then had questions about where to buy the yarn several times before I had to tell her to sit tight and see what happens... lol)

Princess Trixie update... tomorrow marks 2 weeks with us and she is still in need of a forever home. She's settling in a little more and showing her personality. I'm starting to think that she may enjoy a doggy sibbling after all, but maybe one that's more her size. She's starting to play and bond a little with our dogs, though there are still "instances" - example, if a piece of food falls to the floor, she doesn't quite have the manners of a princess and doesn't understand the "first to get it" rule, but instead tries to bully with growls and snaps. Other than that, things have been a gazillion times better. She is completley housetrained... and fully understands NO. In fact, after a no or doing something bad (like a growl at our dogs), she even finds a way to appologize! I'm just hoping she finds a home before we leave for vacation...

Here are some cute pictures from this morning before I left for work...

On that note, have a good weekend... and I'll leave you with a photo from Matt's first win of the season last Sunday... race & knit on!

My Weekend Trip to the FROG pond

I spent a bit of time knitting this weekend, but I really don't have much to show for it thanks to several trips to the FROG pond...

First up were some
ankle socks that I'm using the perfect-for-summer-socks Sereknity Triple Scoop colorway for. Ah, some quick and easy ankle socks that might be ready in time for my vacation at the end of the month? Yea, not so much. These socks will be my first using a short row heel and I thought I'd take the advice of the designer and use a backward YO method. I kept either loosing or twisting stitches, ripping back, then when I finally felt I was getting it, realized I lost track of where the backward YO's were and frogged it all. I digressed to reading up on short rows in my Vogue knitting book and cast on the rib at the top again before putting it down late Saturday night. (Any tips and suggestions on this short row crapola stuff, please do feel free to share)

sockfrog

So then on Sunday, after being woken way too friggin' early at the crack of dawn to head up to Matt's racing, I figured I'd start something new and portable... but not those socks, no those were a couch project until I get the hang of the short rows. So I brought 2 projects - one is my hat for the Knit In contest and the other is the Radiance Lace Headband. After long consideration, I opted for the Jacqueline version, using another gorgeous Sereknity colorway, Lilacs in Bloom. Seemed like a fairly easy and portable project... some YO's and stuff. Yea, I don't know what it was but again... knit, ripped, knit, ripped... and finally to the FROG pond it all went. I kept loosing or gaining stitches or just thinking it didn't look right with the YO and purls. I think I wasn't really paying attention... but after the final FROG I opted to switch to the Amanda version and here's where I'm at in my 1 row of glory...

headbandfrog

Frustrated? Yes. Feel like a knitting clutz? Yes. What keeps me thinking happier thoughts? This...

Hedgehogs

Isn't is gorgeous? That is my new skein of Hedgehog (60% superwash merion ~ 30% bamboo ~ 10% nylon and to die for!) from the lovely Jamie of Scout's Swag! This stuff is simply delectable and I can't wait to make some killer socks!

So just where is all of this knitting taking place, you probably are not asking yourself... but, following in Lora and Jackie's footsteps, I will show you anyway!
