Let the Weekend Begin!

Hey, look... it's Fiber Arts Friday!  Hey, look... she still knits!

AmbersHat
Amber's Tasseled Topper
Not that I don't have 101 UFO's going already, but yes, these are new projects.  You see, my niece and nephew asked my sister to knit them hats, but instead she's working on scarves as she teaches herself to knit.  So Auntie had to step in and cast on hats, right?  Amber's pink hat is first, then I'll do Austin's.  He requested green, but I got a lovely green/blue colorway that I hope he loves as much as I do!

scarf for Special Olympics
I also cast on a scarf for 2011 Special Olympics Scarf Project.  I'm happy to knit for such a wonderful project and to know my scarf will be worn by a talented athlete, but I must say the requirements for using the cheapest Red Heart yarn possible are kinda blah.  But... it's the recipient that counts, so I happily knit away with yarn that I'd otherwise never use.

As if the black hole bottomless pile of UFO's aren't enough to keep me busy, I just got this...

I know pretty much nothing about looms and weaving, mind you.  But... it looks like fun and I was told by a good friend that sock yarn makes great scarves on the Cricket (hello stash busting!).  If you hear a crazy dog lady cursing for no reason at all over the next couple of weeks, no worries... it's just me trying to teach myself loom lingo and how to warp.

I'll leave you today with Friday Fill-Ins...

1. Right now I need a clone of myself... maybe two.

2. Coffee is what's in my glass.

3. A copy of this letter has been filed appropriately.

4. Peanut butter is best with a spoon.

5. The best movie I've seen lately is Hot Tub Time Machine... although it's the only movie I've seen lately (Matt's choice)... not bad for a good laugh.

6. From like; To love.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to doing absolutely nothing, tomorrow my plans include knitting and Sunday, I want to see my Pats walk all over those J-E-T-S!

Happy Fiber Arts Friday!

I can't wait for you to start your weaving obsession. I saw you post on FB that you intend to stain your loom...you are more ambitious than I am.

Great call knitting for the Special Olympics. I'll have to check into that too. I agree, using the cheap yarn is the worst part. BTW, try to stay away from it while learning to weave. Believe it or not, I'm having more issues with that acrylic yarn than I am with wool. Of course! Argh!

So far I've held off on the weaving bug, but it's hard to not want one of those cute Crickets!

Have a nice time "doing nothing." Those are some of the best, most relaxing weekends. I always tend to fill mine up with too much stuff. Come read my answers over at The Philosophy of Chairs.

Lots of great projects going on up there in snow-land! Follow Thor's example and stay warm inside!

Very pretty knitting! I've heard that weaving is as addictive as spinning...you are in big trouble. Give those pups some ear scratches from me and a should out from LittleDog. Have a great weekend.

I've thought about watching Hot Tub Time Machine, but I wasn't sure if it was worth the money. Maybe we'll go ahead and rent it. : )

Love the WIP's, especially the Special Olympics scarf. : )

So, have you warped that loom yet? I got lost in the Rigid Heddle Rav group. They chat a lot & I couldn't keep up. And all the technical stuff just boggles my mind. I need to find a more simple group for weaving to participate in. LOL

And you won't be creating more UFO's with the loom, they are supposed to help us get rid of some stash! LOL
