REVIEW: Bum Boosa

Bum Boosa
Where to Find: Bum Boosa

I recently received samples of Bum Boosa baby wipes and diaper rash ointment for review.  Some might think these are odd products for me to review, but when you think outside the box, they really are wonderful multi-use products.

Bum Boosa is a Massachusetts based company founded by two Moms on a mission, Sonja Sheasley and Polly Goddard.  Caring deeply for the environment and believing strongly in safer, more environmentally friendly products, the Moms launched Bum Boosa baby wipes in July of 2009.  The wipes are made with the renewable, sustainable material of bamboo and have a natural solution which includes pure grade essential oils of lavender and sweet orange.

Two months later, in September of 2009, Bum Boosa released their diaper rash ointment.  As with the wipes, the ointment employs the natural properties of bamboo (anti-oxidant) by including bamboo silk powder in the ingredients. It also includes a variety of herbs and essential oils known for their healing and soothing properties.

I love that the Bum Boosa product line is so environmentall friendly. As many knitters - and even dog parents - already know, bamboo is a renewable, sustainable material. The bamboo Bum Boosa uses is grown on family farms in areas where other agricultural crops will not grow. It has a regenerative root system which means that after harvesting, unlike trees, it does not need to be replanted. Bamboo is the fastest growing grass on the planet and shoots up a yard or more a day and can be harvested in 2 - 4 years. It doesn’t require pesticides or insecticides and it usually thrives on rainwater. Bamboo is also biodegradable and with more than 90% of the wipes on the market being made with synthetics or a combination of materials including synthetics which are not biodegradable, it was essential to Sonja and Polly to choose a material that would not contribute to the growing problems in landfills.   Bum Boosa baby wipes are made with gentle and safe ingredients including Lavender, Sweet Orange, Organic Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Vegetable Glycerin. Food Grade preservative system. Alcohol, SLS, Paraben Free.

Bum Boosa's 100% natural zinc oxide diaper rash ointment is made with bamboo powder, high quality herbs and essential oils including chamomile, lavender, comfrey, shea butter, jojoba oil, calendula extract, rosehip oil, organic olive oil grapeseed oil.

As for thinking outside the box and the multi-use of these products... as a dog Mom, I always have hand sanitizer or wipes on hand and as a knitter, you'll always find hand lotion in my bag.  These baby wipes not only clean up dirt and drool, but they have a nice light scent and I feel good about using them.  The diaper rash ointment makes a luxurious, wonderfully scented hand salve and the sample size jar fits perfectly in my notions bag.

I'm not sure if I would go out of my way to purchase the Bum Boosa line specifically for my dog and knitting bag needs, but if they were readily available on my store's shelves, I would certainly consider them.  If I had a newborn, I would definitely purchase and use both.  If you fall into that category, definitely check them out -- or if you have a baby shower to attend, grab some for your gift bag!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using created by Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Very interesting. We always have several boxes of baby wipes around the house. Anyone with dogs, especially long haired dogs knows how handy they are.
