I woke up this morning, climbed out of bed, turned on the TV and realized, no, it was not just a bad dream.
I'm still in shock and my heart aches. A faceless coward attacked my city, the place I call home (I grew up just North of the city and now reside about 35 minutes away).
We have a saying in Beantown, don't poke the bear. While it is intended for the sport we love, I find it a little fitting today. Bostonians are a resilient bunch who don't take too kindly to faceless cowards. We - Bostonians and our entire nation - will band together once again, and we will prevail.

Marathon Tragedy
I had planned to sign on for a late afternoon Patriots Day / Marathon-Monday Mischief post when my heart sank...
We were out and about when I checked Facebook. Posts about the bombs exploding at the marathon finish line began filling my newsfeed... No, this can't be... this is far too close to home.... But sadly, it is reality.... a very, very scary reality.
We had seriously thought about heading into town to hang out today and head to the Bruins game later, but we never got tickets...
Please keep my favorite city and all those who were affected in your thoughts.... again, this is just far too close to home... no, actually this is home and it's terrifying.

Black & White Sunday: Woof
Happy Sunday! You know what that means -- time for some black and white fun.
First up... Sleepy Zeus.
Pouty Sophie, waiting for someone to play with her and Mr. Lion.
Our former foster baby Belle is all grown up! I just adore this sheepish grin I managed to capture last weekend...
With racing season here, that means we'll get to see her a bunch at the track. She truly is one amazing dog with one of the best temperaments I've ever come across. It's a good thing Wanda & Pete adopted her right away, otherwise I'm quite sure we'd be a 5-doggy household right now. And since that shot above wasn't in black and white, I'll just have to post another one of the beauty.
Enjoy your Sunday! I hope to have a couple of great reviews posted for you this week... stay tuned.

Ten on Tuesday:
I'm a little late to the party, but it is still Tuesday, so... Today's Ten on Tuesday topic is 10 Things I Always Bring on Vacation.
1. Way too many Clothes. It's better to be prepared than to wish you had something, right?
2. A Camera... or 2. I always have my little point-and-shoot with me, and depending where we're going, sometimes the Nikon DSLR.
3. Knitting. Depending where and for how long, I tend to have 1 or 2 projects with me. Simple socks make great vacation knitting.
4. My Nook. It used to be a book, now it's Mr. Nook.
5. Magazines. Because sometimes you want fluffy reading... especially when you're tired.
6. Pictures of the Lapdogs. I never leave home without 'em!
7. Addresses & Stamps. Yes, I still send postcards to family & friends.
8. Cell phone & charger. Can. Not. Be. Without. Them.
9. Bags. I tend to travel with a few extra bags, depending where we're going. That way I have something small and easy to carry, as well as something that can be used as a tote for day trips.
10. Beauty & Hair Products. I don't like to be without my favorites, so it's usually better to pack them than hope to find them once you get there.

Monday Mischief
Monday again, already? ugh... At least we had a lazy Sunday at home yesterday, although I certainly could have used another day.
This was the mischief going on during the human's dinner time last night.
As you can see, our house is rather relaxed. We eat in the living room, while watching TV. I got up to get a drink refill and came back to Lola creepin' on the ribs & potato, with a side of Sophie photo bomb.
Earlier in the day, the humans created some mischief with that noisy machine wesometimes push around the floor. My boys were not thrilled, but I think it provided for a rather cute photo. I just love Zeus' look...

Black & White Sunday: Bones & Balls
It's one heck of a lazy Sunday here! The humans were gone for a very, very long time yesterday for the first race of the season, which was cold and windy as all heck! The Lapdogs did get some special treats when we got home however...
I'm not sure who is more excited to have Casey Jones Bones as part of our sponsor family this year - me or Zeus! But, shhh... don't tell my kids about all the Pumpkin treats we handed out at the race yesterday. It's safe to say we are the most popular stop in the pits for our 4-legged friends!
Speaking of fun doggy stuff, did you catch our Planet Dog Cosmos review on Friday?
