Live More,Want Less: 52 Ways to Find Order in Your Life
by Mary Carlomagno
Paperback: 180 pages
Publisher: Storey Publishing, LLC (January 1, 2011)

LMWL

Do you find yourself constantly multi-tasking?  I know I'm guilty of it.  You might be surprised to learn that a landmark study covered in the New York Times recently found Americans don't necessarily accomplish more by multi-tasking.  As a matter of fact, they found we get less done because we don't give our full attention to the tasks at hand.  Hmm... this multi-tasker may have finally found some reasoning behind my ever-growing pile of UFO's!

Live More,Want Less: 52 Ways to Find Order in Your Life just might hold some of the answers many of us have been searching for!  Author Mary Carlomagno provides a solution to our distracted existence through this guide to living more simply and with more clarity by subtracting stuff and adding experiences.

Live More, Want Less is a user friendly, non-judgmental guide to simplifying life in an easy to achieve, week-at-a-time format.  Get ready to toss the chaos and clutter out the window, and welcome in order and sereknity!  Each weekly theme is presented in a fun way with a list of daily practices to follow.  Topics covered include procrastination (tops on my personal list), possession obsession, weight loss, traveling, book collections (who else has a very overflowing bookshelf... or five?), eliminating "should" from your vocabulary and how to merge two people's stuff into one household.

Packaged in an easy to manage paperback, you can tuck a copy of Live More, Want Less into your bag and take it on the go - just don't read it while you're knitting or playing fetch with Fido.  The format of the book is along the lines of the theme - it's easy on the eyes, the chapters are concise and the illustrations provide some prettiness to the pages without cluttering them up.  I'm ready to learn how to live with less and find what truly counts this year - more living, more love and more meaning!  How about you?

I SO need a copy of this book. I have always said I am a late bloomer. But a lot that stems from not being organized and getting distracted, plus not focusing on what I really want. In my mid-late thirties I am ready to get organized, but don't have the skills to do it. Maybe this book can help.

I feel that a book like this would really help to simplify and lessen the amount that I multitask. I find that I can rarely sit still without the want to dive into a project or read something additional. This seems like great way create focus in my life.

This time Mom Beaglebratz would benefit from this book. Procrastination, chaos and "should" are right there at the top of my vocabulary.

Ooooh, pick me! I used to be known for my organizational skills, but not anymore. You know my house wants a big de-clutter...

Sounds like a great book. Ever since writing out my holiday cards last year and I realizing there was a ton of local friends we were "too busy" to get together with - I'm doing more stuff with friends.

I will however continue to knit while I watch TV! g

I think I'm already a follower...but I hopped on over through Chan's link because I haven't made my way through my google reader yet today.

I NEED this book. I'm living in a house stuffed to the gills with things. I'm certain if I had less...I would have more time for life.

I typed a huge comment then my stupid laptop dumped it. Argh!

I love the comment that the book is not judgmental. With my new job, my whole life has changed. I need to find order and re-learn time management.

As usual, thanks for the great contests.

I could definitely use a copy of this book. I am a definite multitasker being a solo mom with a full-time job and several commitments beyond that. Any help finding a way to streamline and refocus would be great.

OOOH! This is perfect! I have been on a path to subtract stuff and make room for experiences, but have a couple of things I keep getting hung up on. Sounds like the author has some insight that would help!
procrastination - check
travelling - check
possesion obsession - check
overflowing bookshelves (floor, table,...) - check
how to merge two peoples stuff - check
This would be extra helpful as we have no public library right now in our county!
