A Pot of Snow?

I think Mr. Leprechaun feel off the rainbow and landed on his head this year. I couldn't find any gold... instead I woke up to find more of that white crapola this morning...

Zeus_snow_31908

Zeus was wondering where spring was...

Zeus_snow_31908b

Then we noticed the attack of the birds gazillion birdies who happened to notice that we filled the feeders last night...

BirdsinTree_31908

Zeus absolutely loves tormenting watching the birds at the feeders or in the trees. I often catch him being sneaky (you know... when a 135 pound dog lays down, he becomes invisible, right?), then jumping up fast so all the birds scatter everywhere. So of course when he noticed there were a bazillion birds around, he had to keep an eye on the feeders...

After I sent the bird watcher inside, this guy came down for some breakfast...

Before this turns in to a psuedo Dogs on Thursday post, I'll end now and make you wait until tomorrow for more doggy photos. No knitting for me tonight... I'm instead heading out to see Carrie Underwood (I'm really not a country music fan much at all, but I do love her... and after all, she's truly a country-pop-rock star anyway, right?). In the meantime, for those of you on Ravelry, make sure you hop on over and join our 9 to 5 party at the Multitasking 9-5 group. We're going to be hosting our own swap in another month or so. Speaking of swaps, don't forget registration for the Spring Fling Coffee Swap opens tomorrow! Hopefully we'll get another Tea swap soon too!!! Speaking of the Tea swap, Chan is having her Bloggiversary... go wish her well and enter her contest too! Tell her I sent you... one of her prizes will be some brewing (hee hee... get it?) Lapdog Creations stitch markers!

A Rose By Any Other Name..

Since Thursday is the first day of spring, and Thursdays are dedicated to Dogs on Thursday and I'm bored, I thought I'd share some springy fun today. We all know the April showers bring May flowers... (yeah, yeah... its not quite April yet but for those of us doing the Clapotis KAL, March 31 will be here in the blink of an eye!)

You Are a Rose
You are a total alpha dog who tends to be a leader.
Your friends depend on you to hold things together and make decisions.
Potential lovers are drawn to your raw power and strength.
While you are the center of attention, you are secretly introverted and a bit shy.

Happy Green Beer Day!

Are you wearing green today? I hope so! Although I didn't drink any green beer over the weekend, I did spend some quality time with a good cuppa joe, some fine reading material, the NASCAR race and knitting yesterday. I made progress on my Clapotis and even got to drop the first stitch!

Clappy31608

For those of you who really want to show off your kniting bling-bling, Clappy is for you. Check this out... stitch marker bling galore!

ClappyBling

Despite the much too damn quickly approaching March 31 deadline for the Clapotis KAL, I knit a few rounds on these pink socks (using the Peace Fleece pattern from the Knitting for Peace book)...

PeaceSocks

Then, in keeping with my latest pink theme, I cast on the Lop-Eared Bunny from the latest Creative Knitting. I'm using Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo, which I purchased a few weeks ago on that sick/snowy day thousand mile trip trek down to Hub Mills with Joanne. Pinkie will be a birthday present for a special little princess who will soon be turning 2.

BellasBunny

I had a lovely surprise in my mailbox this morning.... a belated birthday gift for my Zeus! It was from Kathy, who I got to spoil in the Defeat the Winter Doldrums swap. She sent an adorable Olive stuffed squeaky toy and a really cute notecard. The pic isn't so great (camera phone), but you get the idea. Thank you Kathy, that was so extremely sweet of you!

Enjoy your green beer, corned beef and cabbage (not sure I'm really 60%, but yes, I am a wee bit Irish... Irish & Portuguese, which could explain a lot... )!

You're 60% Irish

You're very Irish, and most likely from Ireland.
(And if you're not, you should be!)

Doggy Spring Swap Questionnaire

Here is my Dogs on Thursday Spring Swap questionnaire...

How many dogs do you have?
Four.

What are her/his/their names?
Zeus, Lola, Teutul and Sophie

What are her/his/their favorite toys?
Stuffed toys, Kongs, Balls, Ropes (they're all medium to large breeds and chewers, so we tend to buy large breed/heavy duty toys when possible)

What are your favorite treats?
Besides yummy yarn and knitting notions? I love gummy berries, swedish fish, peanut butter cups, macadamia nuts...

What are her/his/their favorite treats?
They love Chew-Lotta bones, anything from Three Dog Bakery, Solid Gold doggy bagels, freeze dried liver treats, cookies (from Wellness, Old Mother Hubbard, Candidae, etc)...

What are her/his/their/persons favorite colors?
Zeus likes blue, Teutul likes green and Lola & Sophie are purple girls.

What allergies do you and/or your dog(s) have?
No cigarette smoke please. Zeus & Sophie might tell you they are allergic to bananas, but they really just don't like them. Their Mom says they are "allergic" to no-name brand dog treats found at Wal-mart and the like, as well as any treats made in China (after the big pet recall last year we are much more careful about what we feed them).

Special Thanks to both Paula & Natalie for all the hard work they do with the DOT blog and for running these great swaps too!

Beware of SABLE

Are You a Knitter?
You are a Knitter, with the capital K.You are never found without needles and yarn in hand. Your favorite place is the yarn shop and you can never seeme to leave without buying needles or wool or a pattern or those fantastic stich markers. Darn yarn fumes.Your stash of yarn is the kind that spills out of closets and is taking over the house. And it's still growing. Beware of SABLE (Stash Aquisition Beyond Life Expectancy). You may need to bequeath yarn to people in your will.Knitting is a lifestyle for you, not just a hobby. You do it for fun, to make presents, or to cool off. We need more of your kind in the world. Go start a knitting club at your school or local coffeshop.

Let Them Eat Cake!

My baby turned 7 last Friday and we celebrated with cake from Woof It Down!

Look - all 4 dogs in 1 photo!

ZeusTutLolaSophie_cake_30708

It used to be said that 1 dog year = 7 human years, but now there are more factors in the equation, espeically the size of your beloved 4 legged baby. According to this, my Zeus is now a little old man senior citizen at the whopping age of 56!

Since everyone else was doing quite the job of mugging for the camera this past week (I think the HSUS Spay Day photo contest has gone to their heads!), I'll leave you with a few more pics on this Doggy Thursday...

Teutul, King of his crate domain...

Teutul_31208

I told him it was time to wash his blankies and I got the "Oh no you don't... don't even think about messing with my blankets... don't you try fixing 'em, they're how I like 'em..." and then I think he stuck his tongue out at me...

Lola striking a pose...

Sophie trying to act like her big sister...
Sophie_31108

This was one of the cutest moments ever! Sisterly Love at its finest! Lola & Sophie sat like this for a few minutes, then by the time I grabbed the camera, I was only able to get one shot off... but at least its a cute one!

SophieLola_31108_CUTE

The senior citizen thanks everyone for their birthday

wishes and sends you all woofs & sloopy kisses...

By Gobble, its Snowing!

This is what I saw when I was getting ready to leave for work this moring...

Snow_truck_31208 Snow_house_31208

No gobbling about it... its friggin snowing today! At least its just snow showers, off and on, but it did make for a slippery commute on the backroads this morning. The dogs were loving it though, especially Lola. {as always, click their linked names for more new photos... I just uploaded a gazillion} You should've seen how wiggly she got when I opened the door and she saw snow... which prompted some super girl zipping!

Lola_snow_31208 Lola_snow_31208d

Tut and Zeus were happily romping & zipping too...

Teutul_snow_31208 Zeus_snow_31208

Princess Sophie decided since she'd already done her business when Daddy let her out, she didn't need to be bothered to go romp in the white stuff... maybe later.

I was trying to be artistic while rushing around trying not to be late for work this morning. Cute?

PawPrints_snow31208

Speaking of trying to be artistic... I have photographic proof of my beading labor over the weekend!

3 chokers ~ all for gifts, 2 of which were mailed out this morning (with added extras) ... can you guess to whom?

Chokers308

Some stitch markers that are packaged up and ready for sale...

StitchMarkers_summersipping StitchMarkers_comingupdaisies StitchMarkers_easter StitchMarkers_teafor2

I mailed out a set of markers on Monday and hope the surprise/thank you arrives today. Another set went out this morning along with a knitted item (insert drumroll... with that my Pay It Forward packages are all out...yeah!). I plan to get some more markers made this weekend and finally up on Etsy!

Now, what's the gobble about you ask? Well, let me show you. Once I got to work this morning (the snow had started to be more wet and less white... before going back to heavy white flakes), this is how I was greeted (excuse the not-so-perfect cell phone camera pics)

Turkeys31208c

No, you haven't lost your mind and yes, those are turkeys! They appeared on our office lawn for a couple days back in February and we hadn't seen them since.... until today. Today they were not only on the lawn, they spent the morning greeting each of us at the front door. We literally had to walk thru them. They also spent some time entertaining & greeting passersby...

Turkeys31208 Turkeys31208b

They gobbled a bunch and gave us some pretty shows with their feathers before moving on later this morning...

Turkeys31208d

So, tonight is knitting night (woo hoo!) and I'll be working on my Clapotis. I'll be back tomorrow for your blog reading pleasure with Zeus' birthday photos for Dogs on Thursday (I'm totally convinced now that you all read my blog more for the doggy photos than knitting content anyway...). Before I leave you for the day, I did want to show off this...

necklace

This hammered/textured white gold pendant (which is on a funky, double chain that you really can't see in the photo) was part of my Valentine's present from my honey and I absolutely love it! We saw it at the jewelry store a few days before V-day when we were picking up something and I just fell in love with it. He went back the next day and snagged it! I've never been one for this type of gold jewelry before (i.e. not a costume/fashion piece) but I thought it was so unique and very cool... so there's my 2 cents of bragging for the day. Happy Hump Day!
