Foster Updates = Happy Smiles #RescuedDogs #AdoptDontShop

Happy Monday! 

While the Lapdogs recover from the Patriots loss yesterday, and uh-hum, Mama gets to work typing up some reviews, we thought today would be a great day to share a few photo updates from our extended foster families.

Besides, there's nothing quite like the smile I get when I see our foster babies living the good life in their forever homes.  #ThisIsRescue

Thankful Thursday: My Race Girl

It's Thursday and there sure is a lot to be thankful for today...

• September has arrived, and hopefully that means the fall temperatures aren't far behind.
• Pumpkin everything is back, which makes me extra happy!
• The fact that Thursdays are now my (work) Fridays once again.  During race season I have to switch to accommodate our Thursday night series... oh the things I do for the man I love!

Speaking of racing, it sure has kept us busy all summer, but now the season is beginning to wind down. When we adopted Penny, we wanted to expose her to everything we possibly could at a young age, which meant she was at the race track at 10 weeks old.  I'm happy to say, and so thankful, that Penny not only enjoys going to the races, but actually gets upset when she can't go. She especially loves the days spent at her home track, New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

 

That shot on the right above was during a pit stop on the way to the track. My girl has clearly mastered the "are we there yet" look, and if she could speak, she'd be uttering the words all the way there! Penny just can't wait to get there and greet all of her fans... after all she knows everyone can't wait to get there to race see her! She's even met several doggy friends this summer, including this sweet boy who just happens to be named Zeus (yes, I nearly shed tears when his Mama said his name).

 

Of course, in between all the meeting and greeting, Penny loves watching her Daddy race and this one was extra special.  It was a National Qualifier race and not only did he take home his best finish thusfar, 4th overall, but he got the Masters Division win as well!

 

Penny was quite proud, as was I, and kept a watch over things in the post-race tech line.

 

I know some of you are wondering why Tut and Sophie don't get to go to the races.  Sophie would absolutely hate it. Strangers and unfamiliar surroundings are not her thing.  My hound girl would much prefer lounging on the couch, in the comfort of her own home. Even if it means her pesky little sister crawls up to cuddle while she's snoozing.

Tut would probably like to come, but we haven't taken him to a race track since he was much younger.  Back then it was the go-kart track and there were less things for him to spend the day barking at.  Instead, Tut gets to be my usual errand co-pilot.  I think it's safe to say he's pretty happy with the arrangement.  He even puts up with that pesky little sister crawling up to cuddle with him too.

 

As you can see, so much to be thankful for today, and everyday!  Penny has fit right into our pack and brings us all considerable joy each and every day (Tut and Sophie would probably tell you she can be considerably annoying as well).  Please keep my baby girl in your thoughts today, as she is being spayed.  Sure, it's a routine surgery, but I'm always a nervous Mama when my kids go under.

I'll leave you today with another quick foster update, because seeing my former foster babies living such wonderful lives in their forever homes always puts a smile on my face.  This is Cotton, who has two human baby brother siblings to keep up with.  She seems to have been caught taking a break amongst the trucks and tractors... much deserved, I'm sure!

Monday Mischief: Rockin the PJs

Monday already?  Yup, that's what the calendar tells me.  The weekends go by faster and faster, don't they?

Not a lot of mischief going on today... at least not that I know of.  After all, who knows what kind of mischief goes on when the humans are at work, right? 

If I had to guess, the Lapdogs are all recharging snoozing on the couch right now.

They're probably saving their energy for a good 'ole game of King & Queen of the snow mountain later on today.  

As you may know, the Lapdogs have quite an extensive family of foster siblings.  It's been awhile since we've shared some of our updates with you, but I thought these two were cute mischief makers.  

Maverick's sister snapped this picture of him ignoring her contemplating life.  Don't you just love that cute little face?

Cotton decided to try on her human brother's PJ's... what do you think?  I think she's rocking them pretty well, although she doesn't look very pleased with her Mom's mischief.

Happy Thankful Thursday / Dogs on Thorsday / Litte Friday!  I should be writing a review today, but ... hey, get this ... I'm behind!  It's been a busy couple of weeks, combined with far too many sleepless nights.  It seems someone put out a "welcome mouse family" sign that I was unaware of.  While Lapdog Daddy works to trap them, my hooey hounds and their dobie mix sister are working to eradicate them in their own way.  Zeus simply runs back to bed when he realizes his siblings are on the hunt.... yes folks, I have a 110 pound scaredy cat.  Anywho, although we close the bedroom door and turn on the AC for noise, Lola's bionic nose and ears know when the little b*&#@*#$ venture upstairs and it's up and at 'em!  Yawn.... Send your good eradication vibes our way please.  I can't deal with the thought of them running around any more and I need sleep!

Now, back to being thankful.... I have more foster family updates to share!

I was thrilled to learn Maverick is still carrying his (freshly washed) snuggie around everywhere! I always send our fosters home with a favorite toy (or two), as well as a snuggie when available. Mavie's family has continued to tell me how much his snuggie and piggie toy mean to him, which truly makes me smile.  A friend had crocheted and donated a whole bag of snuggies to me for our fosters a couple years ago and we've finally exhausted the stash. If you enjoy knitting/crocheting/sewing snuggies and need a place to unload a few, please keep me in mind! 

Jack, aka mini TutLo, has become quite the competition superstar!  His Mom tells me he's always tops in his class.

Cotton was caught doing what I'd love to be doing right about now!  Isn't this a perfect, cozy picture?  Add a yarn basket to that empty spot and I think it would be a stunner!

Sure, I just shared a Belle update last week, but I do get to see our mini-Lola often... which means you do as well!  I snapped these at the race track last Saturday.  She truly is the perfect race dog... such a chillax girl!

Since I can't resist those ears (and I still owe a real post), you get another Booth update too.  His Mom posted this shot of her adorable co-pilot on Sunday afternoon.

I truly am so very thankful for all of the updates and photos that make me smile!  What are you thankful for today?  I'll leave you with those four faces that make me smile (even if some keep me up all night) on a daily basis...

An Afternoon in the Park

The DOG park, that is!  Back in June we caught up with our former foster baby Izzy (the beauty formerly known as Sake) and her parents for a play date at the dog park.  It was wonderful to see her and how happy she is with her family!  She'd already grown up so much!

I always said Izzy was one smart cookie and she proved me right (again) by learning the agility equipment in just minutes!  She's very food motivated and it only took a couple treats before she was zipping back and forth through the tunnel and over the A-frame.

She thought about jumping off the top during her first try on the A-frame, but instead opted to turn around and go back down the same side she went up.  However, within minutes she became an A-frame pro and even had other dogs following her across!

If you've been following for awhile, you know that Lola has become the Old Lady of the dog park and much prefers to lie down in a cool shady spot and just watch.  This is exactly what she was doing while Izzy was showing off... (little Izzy was so fast I missed her head in this shot)

I never really managed a great shot of the girls together, but it wasn't for lack of trying...

 

I always say that photos and updates on our foster babies really make my day and I can't get enough.  It's even more amazing when we get together with them for play dates!  Thank you to Izzy's parents for taking time out of their busy life to hang out with us.

Speaking of updates, here's a couple of shots of one of our 2007 foster babies, Cotton.  She has been keeping an eye on her adorable baby brother and thinking about modeling on the side... ha ha

Another update... Belle (aka mini Lola) is growing up fast and attends most of the NELCAR races.  I'm so happy that Pete & Wanda decided to add her to their family... we get to see her all summer long.  And yes, we did try to talk them into adopting Booth as well, but they've got their hands full at the moment. 

 

Everyone at the track loves Belle and she gets spoiled by our entire NELCAR family...

 

Booth has also gained many fans at the track and several of our NELCAR family members have been following along and rooting for the little man to find his perfect forever home.  Well, I'm pleased to say that Boo has been adopted!  It's very bittersweet, especially since he's so attached to me (and yes, uh-hum, I'm quite attached to him as well).  I do think he's going to the perfect family though, complete with a 5 year old doxie sister to play with.  He was adopted on Tuesday, but his family had a mini vacation planned... which means we have custody of the little man through this weekend!
