Foster Updates

I always say that fostering is bittersweet, but the most rewarding part (after helping a pooch get to his or her forever home, of course) is getting photos and updates of our fosters from their families. 

I just received this photo of Sophie (formerly known as Sookie) from her family in Vermont.  I can't believe how tall she's gotten!

Sophie's Mom & Dad report that she loves to go hiking and when she's not running around with her brother Murphy, she's waiting for her Dad to sit down so she can jump up in his lap to watch TV.

Skipper's Mom also sent a couple of recent shots... and boy is he getting big quick!

Speaking of foster babies, you may recall that we got to steal babysit little miss Rosie for a week at the end of August when her Mom was on vacation.  I still need to upload those photos (yes, I'm behind... are you surprised?), but here's a couple to make you smile in the meantime...

I hope you've enjoyed my cuteness overload today as much as I have... I'm itching for another dose of foster puppy breath soon!

The Wee Ones

Happy Dogs on Thursday!  I'm playing a little bit of catch-up with photos... today it's more of the teeny tots, Rosie and Sookie (aka the two fosters we had last month).

Sookie was the first to leave us and head to her forever home in Vermont, where she has a furbrother named Murphy. 

Her new family has informed us that she's running Murphy ragged and enjoying life in Vermont.  That was enough to put a smile on my face, but hearing that she has a new name made that smile even bigger... the furball formerly known as Sookie is now Sophie!

Rosie is now living in my hometown with her humans and furbaby sister Rascal. While she was here, she really bonded with Lola and became quite the little shadow...

Rosie was definitely one of those fosters who made it really difficult to let her go...

Work has been keeping me crazy busy these past couple of weeks, but I promise pictures of our current foster Bentley coming very soon...

Bittersweet

Happy Wordless Wednesday!  I will do an official puppy update later this week, but Sookie went to her forever home in VT on Sunday and Rosie will be going to her forever home in MA (my hometown actually) tonight.  Letting them go is always difficult, but it's going to be especially bittersweet with Rosie.  If we didn't have 4 awesome babies already, we would have kept her for sure.

I recently got these t-shirts which benefited a local humane society... they're quite fitting, don't you think?

Puppy Dog Tails

No snips and snails here, but there sure are plenty of puppy dog tails! 

Happy Dogs on Thursday / Thankful Thursday!  If you haven't heard, you must live under a rock we're fostering two adorable pups this week, so I guess I might as well keep the "double trouble" theme going...

I'm thankful for having a double dose of puppy breath and itty-bitty puppy paws in the house this week... and for an amazing pack who welcomed their foster sisters in with a few grunts and stares open paws and the biggest pile of toys any pup could ask for!

 

Rosie & Sookie are in a toy heaven and some of them are bigger than they are (and no, that doesn't stop either one from carrying them around)!

 

I believe I promised to post video, so here are two short clips of Rosie and Sookie playing in the exercise pen we bought just after picking them up on Saturday.  I suppose acquiring an x-pen means we're ready and able to foster more tiny tots, right?

Beauty Rest

Happy Wordless Wednesday (and my Friday this week)!  Today's theme is girls and their beauty rest...

Double Trouble, Take Two!

Did you catch my drive-by post about our foster girls, Rosie and Sookie yesterday?  Yes, that's right.... we finally had a weekend off from racing and time to get stuff done around the house and what did we do?  We decided to foster not one, but two tiny tykes...

They are so full of energy... and puppy breath!  Love that puppy breath!  That's Rosie (short-haired, beagle/chihuahua mix) on the left and Sookie (long-haired, cavalier king charles spaniel mix) on the right.

Of course, all that go-go-go eventually means crash.

 

Lola has been portraying the Mama role very nicely.  When she thinks their wrestling is getting out of hand or they're making too much noise, she runs quickly to break it up and tell them to calm down. 

 

While they both adore their foster Mama, Rosie seems especially taken with Lola.  Perhaps she looks like a giant version of her real Mama?

 

Zeus thinks that all is good when the pups are calm... he can get his nap in too.

Teutul puts up with them, so long as they remember that he is the baby...

 

Sophie wants to know why we laugh and think our little girl looks like a giant around the pups...

 

Hope you didn't mind the picture-heavy overload of cuteness.  I actually had over 150 photos from two days (digital photography rocks) and narrowed it down to around 135.  Yes, that means there's plenty more cuteness where these came from... there might even be video too.  Stay tuned!
