Trick or Treat

Happy Tuesday!  Today's Ten on Tuesday topic is: 10 Favorite Candies in Your Trick or Treat Bag

main-photo
Love This! (borrowed from Hersheys.com)

1. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.  You can't go wrong with a classic, especially when there's peanut butter involved!

2. Popcorn Balls. Not really a "candy," but they just seem to go hand-in-hand with trick or treating.

3. Swedish Fish. One of my most favorite candies!

Belated birthday surprise box from a friend. #swedishfish #lindt #chocolate #coffee #socks #fall stuff

4. Lindt Lindor Truffles. I never got these in my Trick or Treat bag, but I did just receive two cute little bags (along with Swedish Fish!) in a birthday goody box.

5. Chocolate Minis. Those little snack size Butterfingers, Almond Joys, Hershey Bars, Kit Kats, M&Ms, etc.  Of course, "snack size" sure has shrunk over the years.

The best! #hershey #kisses #pumpkin #spice #fall #candy #yumo

6. Hershey Kisses. I'm partial to the pumpkin spice ones this time of year!

7. Twizzlers. Original, please!

8. Dum Dum Pops. Because, seriously, when else do you get these?  Well, other than TNT autograph nights at racing when everyone puts out candy.  I discovered some really amazing new flavors of dum dums this summer!

9. Ring Pops. Another fun one!

Found these at the grocery store today. #smores #food #snacks #chocolate #sodelicious #yumo

10. Russell Stover S'mores. OK, so I'm guessing no one has ever found one of these in their Trick or Treat Bag, but I would sure love to!

Monday Mischief Reversal

Well, it's Monday... and there's absolutely no mischief going on in the Lapdog house today.  This Doggy Mama is feeling sick/run down and fighting a killer headache as I type, and the Lapdogs are all passed out on various couches and beds...

Except for Zeus, who's staring at me as I type.  I truly think he's doing some sort of mind control trick, trying to get my hands to type what he wants.  Just look at those eyes of his (no we're not sitting on the porch, but this is pretty much a carbon copy of the way he's looking at me now)...

Zeus_101312

I'm guessing he wants to tell you that his Mama getting sick is all her own fault.  You see, his humans were the mischievous ones this weekend.  They had the nerve to go out without them all day... Saturday and Sunday!  They left at the butt-crack of dawn and didn't get home until well after dark!  It was the last race weekend of the year...

Then, after the humans got home on Sunday, they had the nerve to go right back out!  Zeus says he heard it was something about zombies...

Yes, that's right... the humans went gallivanting off to a concert... Rob Zombie (and Marilyn Manson, though the humans don't feel the need to even mention him since he was so awful and un-entertaining).  The humans loved Mr. Zombie and were very glad they got to see his fabulous show, even if they are very, very tired.... and possibly sick.

Wanted: Albino Raccoon

Happy Fiber Arts Friday!  Please excuse this little late day drive by, but it's been a busy week around the Lapdog household.

Fiber Folks... be sure to hop back to yesterday's review of della Q knitting bags and enter to win an awesome Cleo Yarn Caddy!  Seriously ladies, you will love this bag!  She's amazing and will be your new best friend, especially if you're not a monogamous knitter, like me!

Yesterday the humans ventured North to the Maine Wildlife Park and had an amazing time strolling amongst the animals!  If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen these shots, but I promise I'll download our real camera pics and do a post next week.  In the mean time...

Another beautiful scenic shot

I so wanted to steal that albino raccoon and bring him (or her?) home!  It was super playful and was interacting with us the whole time.  Acorns had been raining down in and around it's enclosure and apparently, it had already eaten all the ones it found inside.  He/she kept asking us to toss some from outside the fence closer to it's reach... we'd toss a couple and it would scrunch it's little face right up into the fence and reach out it's long arms to snatch them up.  Once the prize was picked up, it would take the acorn to a rock, sit down and open it up to get the nut inside.... then come back and beg us to toss some more closer.  The shot above was during a particularly cute begging moment when it stood up on it's hind legs to look extra cute.  The place is amazing and I look forward to going back again... and again!

REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: della Q

della Q

Cleo Yarn Caddy & Edict Project Bag
Where to Find: della Q

DellaQ_1012c

OK, I'll admit it... I'm in love!  I mean, seriously, how could any stylish, on-the-go knitter (or yes, I suppose, crocheter) not love the beautiful, vibrantly colored bags from della Q?!?!  I recently received a Cleo Yarn Caddy and a "paws off my knitting" Edict Project Bag for review and can't scream it loud enough -- I heart both of these bags!

Let's start with the Cleo Yarn Caddy.  Are you one of those unashamed knitters who cast on project after project - gasp - without finishing one first?  Not a monogamous knitter, you say?  Me neither... and Cleo is our dream bag!

DellaQ_1012bCleo stands up all on her own and is full of pockets on both the inside and out!  The 4 large exterior pockets are perfect for holding yarn, needles and small projects, while the 2 small interior pockets (one of which is zippered) are great for notions and other little things. Cleo is not just another knitting bag however, she is truly a caddy, perfect for organizing your projects.  She will be your best friend at home and on the go, just don't toss her over your shoulder... Cleo prefers to swing in style next to you.

I love that I can store a medium to large size project in Cleo, and have the ability to keep everything I need for that project in one bag.  What I love even more, however, is that I can store several of my smaller projects all in this one handy caddy.  Whether I'm knitting at home in front of the TV, or in the car on the go, I know everything I need for those projects is all in one place.  And, when I am on the go, I have choices!  No more regrets that I didn't bring project x with me, and no more pouting when I realize I forgot some essential tools at home and can't continue with a particular project.

The Cleo Yarn Caddy measures 8" wide and stands 12.5" tall.  She is currently available in two beautiful patterns; Mojito Beach (as you see here in this review) and Tequila Sunrise.  Snatch one up now and organize your projects in style!

DellaQ_1012dNow, onto the super cute "paws off my knitting" Edict Project Bag.  Is there not a more perfect small project bag for me than this?!  della Q developed a fun line of Edict project bags to replace all those un-snazzy ziploc bags we crafters tend to grab in a pinch.  Measuring 11" wide by 12" high and made of cotton, these drawstring bags are perfect for all of our small project needs.  They even have an interior pocket to stash some notions!  The bags are available with several crafty sayings, including Hat Project, Sock Project, Random Project, Scarf Project, Tangled String (oh how I adore this one!), Cheaper Than Therapy and Shh... I'm Counting.  Of course, Paws Off My Knitting is the best and Della knew that when she suggested she send me one along with the Cleo Yarn Caddy!  Well, maybe she wouldn't say it's the best, but she certainly realized I would!  Super fun doggy saying + purple = fabulous and my new favorite small project bag!  But hey Della, how about adding a "Stop Sniffing My Yarn" or "No Wet Noses on my Knitting" bag to the collection... I could use one of those with Teutul around!

DellaQ_1012eTreat yourself to a Cleo Yarn Caddy or Edict Project Bag today - you won't be disappointed with either choice!  Or, check out the other fabulous designs available from della Q.  If fall - or the Target Christmas commercial on TV already! - has gotten you thinking about the quickly approaching season of giving, check out some of the options for the crafty chics on your list.  The Edict Project Bags also make adorable gift bags!  You can use it while creating a special project, then "wrap" up said project in the same bag.  Or, you can stuff one with a special skein of yarn and some pretty notions.  Either way, your gift recipient is sure to love - and use - it!

Don't Let Politics Divide Us

Excuse the drive by post today... it was probably going to be a no-post day actually.  That is, until I stumbled upon this Kid Rock & Sean Penn public service short-film, "Americans."  It's a must watch - just please note the language is rated R, so it's not for younger ears.  No matter which side of the vote you're on, the message is what's most important... We are all Americans, Don't Let Politics Divide Us.

Monday Mischief: Fall Photo Shoot

We've had quite a few rainy, dreary days here lately... so when we had a little bit of dry weather on Saturday, I did some bribing got the dogs outside to pose for some fall photos!

Now, when it comes to getting four furkids in one photo, the trick is to pray snap as many photos as possible... and hope you wind up with at least one shot in focus, with four dogs who are looking in relatively the same direction.  Eyes open and cute expressions are a bonus!

I always end up capturing a few where someone is getting up / moving around /running out of a shot...

4dogs_101312i

Which then results in some that look like this...

SophieTutLola_101312

SophieTutLola_101312b

Zeus is always Mr. Independent, and more often than not the missing 4th wheel in many shots.  Of course, he knows just how handsome he is all on his own.  I love the second shot below, where I caught him spying on his siblings as they were cooperating for Mommy posing for the camera.

Zeus_101312b Zeus_101312c

Of course, we don't always need all four kids in the shot to get cute photos, right?

LolaSophie_101312 Tut_101312

The end result was a good one this weekend.  I actually ended up with a solid 8 or 9 good shots of my kids together... success

So, I suppose my Lapdogs were pretty good, and not so mischievous this weekend.  At least not when it came to their photo shoot... be annoying to the humans while they were trying to watch TV is another story.

The Lapdogs wanted everyone to know that today is their Grammy's birthday and they hope you will all wish her a very happy one!

That's my Mom on the left in the second shot of our parents enjoying an early fall day at the apple orchard last month... Happy Birthday Mom!
