Royal Friday

Happy Royal Friday!

It's almost race day... 2nd race of the 2011 Nelcar Season.  I better get some shots from Matt's first race in the Legends car up now.  I wasn't going to share too many until we get the car wrapped / painted and it looks pretty (and has our sponsors logos on it), but that hasn't happened yet.  So for now, please picture the #8 in Bruins black & gold colors...

These are from a very cold April 16 at NHMS... it even started to snow!

I finally broke out my Simpson crew gloves (needed them to keep my hands warm).  Here's my view from inside the trailer at some point during the cold, windy day...

Car_41611c

Did I mention it was cold that day?  I had on 3 layers, including 2 sweatshirts, and was still freezing.  I hiked it a mile or so to the infield snack shack for hot chocolate.  NHMS has been working on replacing their scoreboard and I happened upon pieces of the the old one on my way...

Apparently they just used new panels to cover up the old Winston logo for the past few years.  That's the big fancy new scoreboard on the right.

Here's a few cool shots from Chris at rpm.printroom.com ...

Hope everyone has a great weekend.  I'll leave you with the Friday Fill_Ins...

1. I love to snuggle with my honey and the dogs.

2. A laugh and a smile.

3. It's how you handle the battle, not whether you won or lost this game.

4. You can't argue with unreasonable people, so don't tell me to even try!

5. Well, would you look at that, it's Friday.

6. Go away spring peepers, bring back my fall and leaf peepers.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Fringe, tomorrow my plans include "hey, hey ... it's race day!" - hopefully I'll get some knitting time in this week and Sunday, I want to hang out at home with the dogs, knit, relax...!

Wrestlemania

Happy Dogs On / Thankful Thursday everyone!  We're thankful to hear that all of our friends in the South are doing okay this morning and we send out lots of good vibes to all of those effected by the devastating storms...

Sophie really wanted to spy on you today, while Lola & Tut are still working on their "William & Kate" poses...

"Hey YOU, whatcha doin'?"

TutLola_33011
"We do..."

I often get asked if all four of our dogs "get along."  My response is usually, "um, yes, of course they do."  It always boggles my mind when people talk about their packs and how they have a couple of dogs that don't get along... at all!  Really?  I suppose you run into that in all families, but we'd like to think the four-legged members are always the better ones.  We have nightly Daytona 500's and Wrestlemania bouts in our house, but it's all in good fun!   Here's a little dose of Wrestlemania... Lapdog style!

Hey, where did Lola go?  Sophie says "I'm outta here boys!"
So while everyone has their moments, yes, the Lapdogs are one big happy furry family!

Wooo!

We briefly interrupt your morning to say Wooo and do a little victory dance!!!

What can't you cover in chocolate?

Happy Wordless Wednesday!  An Easter Basket to gain 20 pounds by fit for a queen... or at least a couple of dog noses!  Goodies from The Chocolate Moose, including chocolate covered devil dog, chocolate covered popcorn, chocolate covered kettle chips, chocolate covered sunflower seeds... you get the picture (thankfully no chocolate covered bacon or doritos this time... those were both a "had-to-try-it-once" thing)......

EasterBasket_Lola_411
Lola was absolutely fascinated with that big sunflower

EasterBasket_Tut_411
Tut had to investigate as well...

EasterBasket_411
Yes, he got some of those chocolate mousse peep pops too... mmmm!

REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Planet Dog 10th Anniversary Orbee Balls

Planet Dog 10th Anniversary Orbee Balls
Where to Find: Planet Dog

PDballs_411b

PDballs_411Planet Dog is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of their award-winning Orbee-Tuff Orbee Ball. The popular dog ball launched a decade of romping, wagging and giving in 2001. To celebrate the milestone, Planet Dog has released three Special Edition Anniversary Orbee Balls: the retro Lake/Glass Orbee that was originally launched in 2001 and two new color combinations, Red/Teal and Silver/Pink.

The new color combinations were chosen after soliciting ideas from members of the Planet Dog Pack through an employee contest.  All three Special Edition Anniversary Orbee Balls are available in four sizes; small (2.25"), medium (3"), large (4"), and for a limited time, extra large (5").

PDballs_411c
We received a small Lake/Glass, a medium Red/Teal and a Large Silver/Pink Orbee to review.  The Lapdogs are very familiar with Orbee Balls and have accumulated several in their toy baskets over the years.  They enjoy chasing the balls with the un-predictable bounce, but what they love even more is when Mama stuffs the hollow centers with treats - making Orbees a truly interactive toy!

We gave the small Orbee to our friend (and former foster) Simon, a Chihuahua mix who's most favorite toy in the whole wide world is the Orbee-Tuff Raspberry.  I wasn't sure how he'd take to the distinctive peppermint scented ball, but in no time he was tossing it around and chasing it all over the house.

PDballs_411dOrbee Balls are extremely durable, non-toxic, 100% guaranteed, recyclable and, most important, Made in the USA!  They have received numerous accolades from editors at leading pet consumer and trade publications over the years including Editor's Choice Awards and many Top New Product Awards.  The Orbee Ball also helps support canine service through the Planet Dog Foundation. Planet Dog donates 2% of every purchase to this non-profit foundation which provides cash grants to non-profit programs nationwide. Since January 2006, PDF has given away over $785,000 in cash grants and in-kind product donations to exemplary programs that train, place and support dogs helping people in need.

REVIEW: Premier Pogo Plush Bunny

Premier Pogo Plush Bunny
Where to Find: Premier

Zeus_Rabbit_3711

PPBUNL_LRIt's the never ending dilemma that all dog parents go through... Your pooch loves stuffed toys, but you don't like the mess stuffing makes when Fido loves that stuffing right out of them.  Well, thanks to Premier, it's time to make both pup and human happy with Pogo Plush toys!

PogoPlushRabbit_Sophie_3711b
Unlike regular stuffed toys, the Pogo Plush has a patent-pending design that provides a unique bounce-back action thanks to a rubber cage inside - and no stuffing!  The inner bouncy frame and free-floating squeaker keeps dogs guessing through hours of fun.  The squeaker is constantly moving around inside the cage and therefore, never quite in the same spot.

Zeus_Rabbit_Play_3711ePogoPlushRabbit_SophieTut_3711cThe Lapdogs received a large Pogo Plush Bunny for review and have given it the official 16 Paws Up Seal of Approval.

All four dogs have been playing with this toy for well over 6 weeks now and not only has the toy itself held up, but it has held their interest as well. They continue to go back to the bunny again and again, unlike other toys where they loose interest after a few days or weeks.  The free floating squeaker provides hours of fun and excitement as they "hunt" the bunny looking for it.  The bounce-back action of the inner cage is intriguing to them as they chomp down on the bunny and it springs right back.  No other toy in their basket acts like the Pogo Plush does ... and did I mention there's no stuffing to make a mess?

PogoPlushRabbit_SophieTut_3711b Zeus_Rabbit_Play_3711b

PogoPlushRabbit_Sophie_3711dThere are six styles of Pogo Plush toys available: Ball, Beaver, Bunny, Frizzle, Raccoon and Slap Happy.  Each style comes in two sizes, small and large.
Pick up a Pogo Plush toy for your four-legged baby today... neither of you will be disappointed with the hours of fun it will bring!  You can find a Premier retailer near you by using their store locator or find an online retailer here.

Reduce. Reuse. Rewoof!

PDball_Lola
Lola keeping an eye on the world
Happy Earth Day!  As we say around here, Reduce. Reuse. Rewoof!  I'm a huge fan of Planet Dog and always love when the Lapdogs get to review their wonderful products (stay tuned for one next week).  For Earth Day 2009, we had three very special guest reviewers help us show off some of their go green items... you can revisit the review here.

Funtote2Another favorite "green" thing of mine is reusable shopping totes.  We've got a huge stack of the freebie style ones at home and I'm doing better at making a conscious effort to always have them in my car.  I especially love how I can fit 3 or 4 plastic shopping bags worth of stuff into one easy to carry tote.  For non-grocery things, I really love the fancier ones that fold up into little pouches, making them easy to stash in your purse, especially the Funtote Carry-Me bag or the Goknit Green bag.  These are perfect for fiber festivals, fairs, day trips, etc.

ChocMoosebunnPeep
The BEST peep in town
Anyone doing anything special for Earth Day?  Any festivals or fairs near you?  If you hop over to Lowe's tomorrow, they're giving away one million free trees... who's getting one?

Have a Happy Easter weekend!  I hope everyone gets something yummy in their basket.... I'm hoping for some more of these awesome chocolate mousse flavored "peep" pops.  I grabbed one while shopping at The Chocolate Moose (sadly, they don't have a website) yesterday and all I can say is..... yum-o!!!!

Time for some Friday Fill-Ins...

1. Pardon me, but who are you to question what I do in my free time.

2. The Sperry Top-sider Sunfish flip flops I ordered yesterday were a good deal at 50% off  (and free shipping!).

3. I was surprised to find that I really like brussel sprouts.

4. People watching is one of my favorite forms of entertainment.

5. Hi, my name is Nichole and I'm a yarn hoarder.

6. Having to be at work on beautiful summer afternoons is no fun at all.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to the start of the weekend, tomorrow my plans include B's vs Habs Game 5 and Sunday, I want to enjoy a quiet Easter at home with the family!

All Ears on Thursday

Happy Dogs on Thursday / Thankful Thursday / Little Friday / Almost Time for Peter Cottontail day.  Is everyone ready for Easter?  Got the chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, pretty baskets, colored eggs and delish ham?  What about the Easter Bunny impostors?  We've got 4 here...

Lola's got the Easter Bunny job thing down pretty well, bearing gifts and all.  She and Tut are still working on that William & Kate impersonation thing they started yesterday.  I'm not so sure Kate would be inclined to wear pink bunny ears...

 Lola_bunny_411e LolaTut_bunny_411

Zeus really knows how to rock the ears... he's got the supermodel poses down and all!

Zeus_bunny_411 Zeus_bunny_411c

Teutul will do just about anything for a treat, even let Sophie laugh at him wearing his oversized pink ears...

Tut_bunny_411 Tut_bunny_411e

OK, so Sophie wasn't really laughing at Tut, she was just trying to get that cool new chew toy on his head... and wondering where the squeaker was!  She was not a fan of wearing them at all...

Sophie_bunny_411 Sophie_bunny_411c

We have a few more ear-shots to share, but we'll save them for Sunday.  Lola helped to end our little photo shoot by removing the ears from her brother's head...
