It can spring anytime now... please? While we've been teased with a couple days of decent temperatures, and plenty of mud, spring still hasn't officially sprung in our neck of the woods. Teutul is, not so patiently, waiting...
We got more snow over the weekend. Not a lot, maybe a couple inches, but still.
And, as I look out the window, it's spitting that white crap today too. hmprf
Other than the weather, there's not a lot of mischief going on around the Lapdog house. Zeus is still hanging in there, although he's not doing well and his health is certainly on the decline.
If this were any other dog, I think he would have given up by now and stopped eating, stopped functioning, etc. But this is Zeus we're talking about. The dog with the strongest will to live I have ever seen. The dog who's been through so much in his 14 short years, but has fought it all head on.
While I'm not sure how much fight my boy has left in him, I am determined to see it through for as long as he wants to fight. It is not easy. We've made appointments and cancelled them numerous times. Each time when I think my boy is going to tell us that he's ready, he surprises us all. The emotional roller-coaster has been on supersonic speed. Please keep the paws crossed. While the power of the paw no longer can help to heal my boy, it can help to make his last days as enjoyable as possible.

REVIEW: Halo Liv-a-Littles Treats
Halo Liv-a-Littles
Where to Find: Chewy.com
The awesome folks over at Chewy.com had some great treats to chose from for review this month. I decided to give the Halo Liv-a-Littles a try, and boy are the Lapdogs glad I did!
Liv-a-Littles are grain-free, freeze-dried dog and cat treats. Yes, I said that right... if you're a multi-fur-species household, your dogs and cats can share these tasty little morsels!
Liv-a-Littles are available in 3 flavors: 100% chicken, 100% beef, and 100% salmon. We decided to try the chicken. As a concerned doggy Mama, I am thrilled to see such simple ingredients. The only thing added to the 100% freeze-dried chicken breast is a bit of marinade (sodium phosphate, salt, carrageenan). That's it - literally a plain and simple, healthy treat for my babies! Just look at how wholesome these treats look (they remind of the Perdue short-cuts chicken pieces I added to my salad for lunch today, only my chicken isn't quite so dry, ha ha)...
The Lapdogs went nuts for the Liv-a-Littles and begged for more, which really made me smile knowing that I was giving them a treat that was good for them, packed with protein.
Liv-a-Littles are designed for all life stages of both dogs and cats. The treats can be given as is, or crumbled up in their food. I have fed other brands of freeze-dried treats in the past, but these ones by Halo really seem to stand above all those others. I appreciate that they come in a smaller size container (2.2 oz), as opened treats aren't sitting around for a long time, leaving me to wonder about their freshness - especially when we're talking about freeze-dried.
Check out the Liv-a-Littles and other great treats from Halo over at Chewy.com where 1-2 day shipping is always free on orders of $49 or more! Perhaps it's time to spring-clean your treat pantry and restock!
Disclosure: Chewy.com sent a jar of Halo Liv-a-Littles treats to Lapdog Creations, free of charge for review purposes. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions expressed are my own.

Happy National Puppy Day
Apparently, it's National Puppy Day. Good Morning America told us... and so did a gazillion Facebook posts. In honor of this fun day, let's go back in time a little...
Zeus was just 7 weeks old when he came to us.... then he grew like a weed!
Lola was 4 months old when we adopted our "little" bundle of joy. She and Zeus were inseparable since day one.
Teutul also came to us at 4 months of age, and quickly settled in with his older brother and sister. He was our first failed foster.
Sophie was 10 months old when she moved in on, what was to be, a temporary basis. An extremely shy little girl, she was not a match for most of those adoption applications and after a month, it started to become apparent she might not leave. After two months, it was official, Sophie chose to stay with us.
Oh how I wish I could turn back the hands of time. Our hearts ache without Lola's smiling face around. Our house is so incredibly quiet, and we know the time is coming near that it will become even quieter as we prepare to say goodbye to Zeus. Why is it that the sweetest creatures on earth, with the biggest hearts and best personalities, have such incredibly short lives? It's not fair. Hug your puppies today - whether they are 2 months, 2 years, or 15 years.

Monday Mischief: Got Jif?
Where or where does the time fly? Hard to believe it's Monday already... even harder to believe Spring arrives on Friday...(or at least that's what the calendar says. The fresh snow on the ground screams otherwise.
There's not a whole lot of mischief going on in the Lapdog household at the moment. Although, Tut sure had some fun with the Jif jar yesterday.
We keep 2 jars of peanut butter open at all times in our house (pb is a food group, right?), one for the humans and one for the dogs. Lola used to love to lick out the empty jars, but this time Teutul had the honor.
Don't worry, Sophie and Zeus both had peanut butter in their Kongs while this mischief was going on...
He gets very nauseous, which we think may be the result of a tumor pressing on his stomach. He's been getting through it with daily doses of Cerenia, on top of his usual medications that help his mega esophagus, but he seems to be wrenching more often these past few days (luckily, not actually vomiting). It seemed to work really well for well over a week, but Dr. C did make it clear this was just a band-aid. Unfortunately, I think the f*&king cancer is progressing and destroying him. My emotions go from extremely sad to extremely pissed off. We knew we'd be facing difficult decisions with him sooner than later this year, but we thought it would be the mega-e, not that nasty C word. And we never thought we'd lose our 2 babies to the nasty disease so close together. WHY?

Speaking of my old man, Zeus has been a real trooper and fighting so hard these past couple of weeks, but I think the cancer is really taking over at this point.
