Happy Birthday Zeus!

It's been quite a journey to get here, and we've had some very scary moments in the past week alone, but we made it.  Zeus is 14 years old today and it's time for our annual birthday recap!

Of course I'm a little biased, but I think my boy is quite handsome.

He even makes my selfies look good...

Zeus always works hard at reviewing items for the blog...

My big guy loves spending time outdoors, especially lounging on the back porch...

Sometimes he's Mr. Serious... 

But most of the time he's a big 'ole ham...

 

Zeus has always been my biggest lapdog...

My baby boy has been thru so much in his 14 years, but most especially in the past year.  He's been a trooper with his mega esophagus, got thru Vestibular Disease with flying colors, and survived 3 bouts of aspiration pneumonia.  And thru it all, he's always smiled and wagged his tail at the vet.

But his bond with Lola was unmatched.  I'm convinced his recent heat arrhythmia diagnosis is truly a broken heart... he misses his sister so very much.

Happy Birthday Zeus.  I love you more than words can say.  We bought our home 14 years ago and brought you home, at just 7 weeks of age, just a month later.  You have been a part of our lives and home for so long, and have fought thru so much, been so brave.  Your amazing will to live has taught us all so very, very much.  I can't even begin to thank you for your unconditional love.  As much as I can't stand to think about it, I know the day is coming soon, and it truly breaks my heart to think about life without you here.

Thankful Thursday

With so much heartache in our household these past few months, I have learned to be incredibly thankful not just for the days, but for each and every moment I have with my babies.  Life is too short... hug your furbabies. 

Wordless Wednesday: Power of the Paw Please

It is Wordless Wednesday, but we do have a few words to share with you today (and apologize once again for any sporadic blogging or rambling). 

If you follow us on social media, you know Zeus has had some rough days.  We thought we were going to say goodbye a couple of times since Friday, when we found out the mass in his abdomen has gotten larger, he lost a few more pounds, and developed a heart arrhythmia - all in 3 weeks time. Dr. C thinks whatever cancer is inside of him has most likely metastasized to his heart. I'm sure she's right, but I think my boy has a severely broken heart. He and Lola were best buds and have been together for so long. I know he is as devastated as his humans are over the loss of his sweet sister.  We were scared her passing would cause him to lose his amazing will to live.

With that said, we've been on yet another emotional roller coaster ride since Friday.  While we know he is not going to get better, he has had some "better" days.  We think he's got a little bit of fight left in him and ask for your continued crossed paws and good vibes for our happy old man.  I'm honestly not sure how much longer we have, but I'm hoping he has a nice 14th birthday on Saturday.
