10 Last Minute Gift Ideas

Hey look, two weeks in a row... Ten on Tuesday!  This week's topic: 10 Last Minute Gift Ideas.

1. Make something yummy... bake cookies or bread... make chocolate covered pretzels... bag your own chex mix. Nothing says love like homemade goodies and when those goodies are food, well...

2. Barnes & Noble gift card... Even if your recipient isn't a bookworm, they have magazines, games, calendars and so much more.  With many Nook owners on my list (myself included), this is now an easy go-to gift when needed.

Flowers_1009c3. A plant or fresh cut flowers... most people don't buy these for themselves, so treat your friends to a splash of color.

4. Edible Arrangements... if flowers and leaves aren't your thing, perhaps chocolate dipped strawberries, melon and pineapple centerpieces are.  Yummy.....

5. Wine... it's easy to dress up a bottle of wine and turn it into a festive gift. Bottle cozy... knit scarf... reuseable wine tote...

6. Coffee... another staple that is easy to make into a festive gift... in a basket with a travel mug (bonus points if you made a handknit mug cozy!)... with some cookies or scones... in an airtight coffee canister... with a fancy coffee scoop... with a gift card to Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks attached...
Jane_socks7. Learn to Knit Kit... if you're a knitter, I'm sure you always hear non-knitting friends say how much they'd love to learn sometime... now is your chance to give them a push!  Fill a tote bag with some needles, yarn, a few notions... (warning: know that they may or may not use it. I gave a birthday gift of this sort 2 years ago... still waiting for said friend to really want to learn)

WC_tickets8. Tickets... they don't have to be to an expensive event... perhaps a minor league hockey or baseball game, the local theater, skating rink or even movie tickets.

9. Magazine Subscription... entertainment, news or hobby related... there's something for everyone!

10. Make a Charitable Donation in honor of a loved one.  I posted a list of a few of my favorite places yesterday.  I accidentally left Victory Junction Gang Camp off that list... another fabulous place!

Those are all excellent suggestions. I think I've done each of them at one time or another. A gift card from Amazon sounds like the perfect gift to me.

I try to put together food baskets for older relatives who may not get out much, with some homemade and some staples in it. Pictures, especially a little album of things you've done together in the past, are always a good gift, too!
