Thankful Thursday: Birthday Cake and Baby Hats

No matter how hectic the season is, and how frustrated we get because of it, there is always something to be thankful for.  While you're running around trying to find just the right gift for everyone on your list, be sure to take some moments to yourself and enjoy the little things.  Whether that means grabbing a latte, sitting down with your knitting needles, reading a magazine, catching up with your favorite shows on the DVR, or playing fetch with your furbaby... take the time!

Here are a couple of my little thankful moments from this past week...

Sophie turned 9 on Sunday and we celebrated with cake, of course!

She loves stuffed hedgehog toys, and I found a new one that not only squeaks, but it grunts and rattles too.  Hat trick!  (too bad her Mama forgot to snap some playtime photos)

And, a quick video clip for good measure...

Happy 9th Birthday Sophie

I'm thankful for finding a little time to spend with my knitting needles.  While I have many projects in progress, I haven't put very many in the finished pile for 2015.  Instant gratification projects always help and the latest is a quick knit baby hat for a special little man.

This was Penny's first hand knit modeling gig, and while the weather didn't allow for outside shots, I think she did pretty darn good.

This was attempt #3 on Baby B's hat.  I started two different patterns prior to finding one I thought looked great with this colorway.  My patient, in-progress model was Teutul...

Pattern choice #1 just wasn't cooperating...

Pattern choice #2 didn't get photographed, but here's the final choice in progress...

And just because he's such a good sport, here's another shot of Tut in Penny's trapper hat...

What are you thankful for today?

What a wonderful hat model! Me, I'm thankful for my little heater in my office today. It's much too cold and wet out for humans, dogs OR cats. A cozy space is just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for the reminder to step back from hectic life and be glad for what I have.
