My mother always told me not to play with my food.
It's a good thing all of my kids have four legs because not only do I let my kids play with their food, I've actually been encouraging them to do so!
Our friends at Chewy.com sent an Outward Hound Kibble Drop toy over for us to test out and we've been having a blast with it. (note: at the time of this post, the Kibble Drop was currently out of stock at Chewy, so if you click that link and get a "not currently available" message, please try again in a couple of days)
Just like us humans, our dogs get bored. They need playtime, stimulation and to be challenged.
The Kibble Drop is an interactive puzzle toy that is sure to get the attention of any treat-seeking pup, and keep their brain engaged. And fortunately for us humans, the Kibble Drop is super easy to use.
Simply drop treats - or as in our case, kibble - into the hole in the top of the toy and they will randomly fall into one of the four treat chambers. Then, sit back and watch the fun begin.
Your dog(s) must determine which chamber(s) the treat/kibble has fallen into and which flap to lift in order to retrieve their prize. Scent holes on the chambers assist the nose search.
With four chambers and three dogs, this got to be a lot of fun! I knew Teutul would pick up on it instantly and was pretty confident Penny would as well. However, I wasn't sure about Sophie. Not that my hound girl isn't a smarty pants, but she can be very leery about things.
Have no fear, Sophie jumped right in and even showed her siblings a thing or two!
Kibble Drop Features:
- Interactive, treat-seeking fun for dogs of all shapes and sizes (maybe even cats too!)
- Made with durable food-safe plastic
- Features 4 treat chambers and multiple scent guides
- BPA, PVC, and phthalate free
- Stimulates your dog's mind
In addition to playtime, I think Kibble Drop would also be ideal for any dog that gobbles up his food too fast. It will take your pup a little longer to eat his breakfast or dinner if he has to work for it. (of course, this only works if you are feeding dry kibble)
In case it isn't obvious from our photos or videos, all three Lapdogs love the Kibble Drop. And, I love the fact that all three of them can play with their food at the same time! We've already had so much fun playing... and Teutul has only tried to carry the Kibble Drop away twice. I'm waiting for the day either he or Penny picks it up and carries it over, asking me to fill the chambers with some yummies. I know Sophie wouldn't even do that. Instead, she'd just go for the bag of yummies directly.
Engage your dog - stimulate her mind - order a Kibble Drop from Chewy today! Remember, 1-2 day shipping is always free on orders of $49+, so why not stock up on some yummy treats to go in those chambers while you're at it.
Here's one more video clip, just to show that Penny did get it on her own (for those who caught my little "help" move in the video above)...

My dogs love this game. It is fairly easy though, so we are now looking for some harder ones.
This post is right on time for me. I just ordered up our first feeding toy for our dogs. It haven't arrived just yet but we will be looking for more complicated ones after they master this one. Thanks for the idea.
What a neat puzzle toy! I can't see all 3 of my dogs playing nicely at the same time with this but one at a time, I think they'd love it.
Food puzzle toys are so much fun! My pet rats love them, too!

I just love my Kibble Drop toy! You guys are going a great job playing nicely! ;)
We'll have to get over there and see if they have a kitty sized one. That would be cool. Thanks for writing about it.
Nothing like having fun with food. Bonus: entertaining Mom while you do so!
It sure looks like a fun toy!
We love puzzle games. Luna usually figures them out pretty quick, but they are still tons of fun!

My dogs love puzzles and I am always on the look out for products that are safe for them. This looks like a great one to try.
We lub dog puzzles and always get ones for little small noses!
My guys love their puzzle toys. This one looks like fun!
We have this game. Dex loves to put coconut treats in it (well I do that part LOL) and it is a hit.
I love this toy, its so cool!

I'm such a huge fan of puzzle toys! I love that this toy has four compartments for treats and the pics of your pack reminds me of my pack!
"My mother always told me not to play with my food" - what a perfect and funny first line for this post! I have been reading lots about these great puzzle games for dogs. Ruby is alone much of the day - aside from the cats and a brief visit from a dog walker. I assume she sleeps most of the day and when we all get home from work and school she is always ready for some fun. The Kibble Drop seems like it would be a super fun activity for after dinner fun. I think we are going to pick one up this weekend. Thanks!
I truly need to check out this treat toy for my mom's dog.
PepiSmartDog:we love those kibble drops! They are so tricky sometimes. Hee Hee!
