Friday, Friday, Friday......

It's Friday and guess what?

Zeus_snow_22511
Not sure if Zeus' look to the sky is a "yay" or "what the??"
Yup, it's snowing.  We were only supposed to get 1 - 3" before it turned to rain, but that appears to have changed overnight (what a surprise).  We're officially in the 3 - 6" now, but the 6 - 12" line isn't too far North.  The drive in this morning was the worst all winter ... talk about white-knuckle driving!

We're sending out wonderful birthday wishes to two very special ladies today.  First up, Happy Birthday to Mom-Sue... hope she has a fabulous day knitting, reading and enjoying the SC sunshine!  Here she is with Diego and Mohan at Tiger World this past October.

Sue Sue2

It's a little difficult to believe, but today is also little Miss Emma's 2nd Birthday!  Here she is with little sister Gabby.  They're growing up so fast!

GabbyEmma_211 GabbyEmma_2311_cropped

The 25th sure is popular... it's also my oldest cousin, Jimmy's birthday!  Anyone else out there celebrating today?  If so, have a happy one!  I'm going to finish up today's post with some Friday Fill-Ins...

1. Ooooh, I am so over snow.

2. However, heat and humidity, I can't stand it!

3. How the heck did I end up with so many UFO's... I'll never be a monogamous knitter, but I really need to work on that stack of WIPs.

4. Charlotte is one of my favorite places to visit.

5. I'm not a doggy Mom who over-spoils her kids, I'm not!

6. If it has peanut butter in it, it has to be good.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to another new episode of Fringe, tomorrow my plans include the racer's expo and Sunday, I want to knit, relax and watch the race!

4th of July fun

Monday Question: What happens when you get an awesome camera to support your obsession with love of photography, but don't get around to downloading pictures off of it for a couple months?

Answer: You end up with a tun of great shots to upload, blog, Facebook, share, etc. all at once!  The reader I use for my small digital camera won't pull files off of the cards I use in the Nikon (I think the files are far too large for it to read fast enough), so I have to find time to download them to the laptop.

Today was one of those "ooohhh" and "aahhh" surprise days of viewing pictures I totally forgot I took!  As a result, a month later, I have 4th of July cook out pictures to share.  I had fun taking some "candraits" (candid portraits?) of the kids...

Little Miss Emma is growing up (and will have a new little sister in the coming weeks)...

More Emma ... because who can resist such a cute little face?

I have a feeling this might be a week of picture heavy posts... stay tuned!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday!!! It's shaping up to be a beautiful weekend in New England... finally! I will be spending at least half of it outside, so that is a good thing!

My Loopy Ewe Sock Club Lite kit for Spring arrived earlier this week. Did anyone else sign up for the two "consolation" kits? This was actually my first club kit of any sort and although I often envy all the goodies everyone posts when their various kits arrive, I still wasn't exactly sure of what to expect. I have to say that I'm rather pleased...

Loopy_sockkit_510 CaperSock_ByeByeBlues

The yarn is Caper Sock from String Theory in the gorgeous Bye Bye Blues colorway (get it... bye, bye winter blues?). There were two patterns included, Dancing Diamond Socks and Cassarah (scarf/mini wrap), as well as a set of exclusive Loopy-red Namaste Oh Snap pouches. I plan to use the yarn for Cassarah, which I think will look absolutely stunning with everything from jeans to a dress.

Sadly, my robin update isn't so happy. I'm pretty confident the nasty cat did get the Mama to the 4 egg nest. She never returned after I saw the robin getting taken down last week. Not to mention, we're used to seeing a good dozen robins zipping around the yard and lately it's been one or two... I think that cat has cleared them out. When I snapped these pics on Tuesday night, the already abandonded nest with 2 eggs was empty and the one with 4 eggs was down to 2 (it's now empty as well)...

Only2Eggs_51810

There was one broken egg below each nest. Not sure if something came and ate them or if perhaps another robin found the nests and was clearing them out for her own use. Only time will tell...

I'll leave you with some Friday Fill-Ins...

1. My great-niece Emma never fails to make me smile.

Emma_510

2. I'm looking forward to reconnecting.

3. Mix 104.1 is what I'm listening to right now.

4. Potato salad must have mayonnaise, not Miracle Whip in it!

5. A lobster sandwich was the best thing I ate today yesterday (I've only had coffee and yogurt so far this morning!).

6. Today was the 141st day of 2010.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing, tomorrow my plans include being outside all day and Sunday, I want to relax some more!

Finally Friday

Finally, Friday has arrived! Even if the weekend temps are going to be significantly lower than they have been all week, I'm just happy for a couple of days off! I did think spring had officially arrived earlier this week...

Crocus_32510

... and then I awoke to snowflakes this morning. Sigh... yes, I do love New England. At least the sun is shining now...

For those of you who may be wondering where all the knitting content is lately... I'm hoping to finish the
Chevron Baby Blanket this weekend! Baby Girl will be arriving on Monday and although I'm not sure when we'll see the new parents, I want to have things ready to go!

Babyblanket32510

A few more stripe repeats, then a quick blocking and it'll be ready to wrap the new babe in!

Speaking of babies, earlier this week Miss Emma was relaxing in her Calvin Kleins that Auntie bought for her birthday (yeah, so I stole the picture from my nephew's facebook page..).

Emma_CalvinKlein

Isn't she stinking adorable... using a stuffed piggie as a pillow and all?

Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend despite the weather. I'll leave you with some Friday Fill-Ins...

1. The right word is not always the first one that rolls off the tongue.

2. Go away and shut the door quietly, please.

3. Up is a Pixar film that I have not seen yet.

4. Someplace relaxing is where you'll find me.

5. Ooh! What is that you just said - did you seriously tell me to shut up?

6. Sometimes quitting while you're ahead is a good idea.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to knitting on the baby blanket, tomorrow my plans include hopefully checking out some sugar houses during NH Maple Producer's open house weekend and Sunday, I want to hopefully have a dryer basement than I do now!

I'll leave you today with some Friday Fill-Ins...

1. Why are you making me want to slap you?

2. I want you to take some time and think about what you did.

3. I would like to open my own business and be my own boss ... then it will be on my terms.

4. I just have to keep hope alive and see what happens.

5. I could use a nap.

6. Just ignore your mistakes and then keep on knitting... that's what I've been telling my two friends who are currently learning how to knit (its only a first practice piece, right?).

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing at home, tomorrow my plans include dinner with old friends and Sunday, I want to celebrate Zeus' 9th birthday at home with the kids!

Happy Birthday Emma!

Has it really been a whole year since my little 4 pound preemie Great Niece came into our lives?

Emma_32509cRound Emma_hat_32009e

It was a year ago today that I interrupted Dogs on Thursday to announce her arrival ... and a year later, we interrupt DOT once again to wish the Princess a Happy 1st Birthday (doggy friends, scroll back to yesterday's post!)!

A month old...

Happy Wordless Wednesday

I guess I should've saved the weekend snow pictures for today's Wordless Wednesday, since we're in the middle of another big storm today... but you'll have to scroll back to yesterday for those.

This was my driveway when I left for work early this morning... its still snowing.

Snow_12909

Its definitely starting to look a lot like Christmas... Emma's ready, are you?

Its Hand-Knit Sock Weather!

TGIF! Its a little chilly here today and a perfect fall day for.... hand-knit socks!

100209

This reminds me that I need to finishing my Trekking socks this weekend get to work on some cute little socks for my favorite great niece...

Emma_909 Emma_909c

Of course I'm biased, but I think Emma is the most adorable 7 month old around!

Now, just in case any of my family is out there stalking me for barfday ideas (and didn't notice my lovely Etsy and Loopy Ewe wish lists on the sidebar), I really need love this new Life is Good shirt...

7934_142388048521_27152833521_2531540_3703228_n

And now, its time for a little Friday Fill-Ins...

1. I have a history of taking off my shirt... Its been one week since you looked at me... Threw your arms in the air and said you're crazy (sorry, that song is actually on the radio right now!).

2. The truth is something I wish I knew.

3. I'm eating (or recently ate) greek yogurt... and I did not like it.

4. I wish I were in a motorhome, on the road, on vacation.

5. So that's it, that's your story and you're sticking to it, huh....

6. 1 goal is better than nothing, although I am disappointed in my Bruins last night!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching Ghost Whisperer, tomorrow my plans include going to the fair and Sunday, I want to watch the Pats game and the race... and hang out with the dogs and knit... since Matt's fall classic race has been postponed once again due to rain... ugh!!
