My Very Good, Very Bad Dog #ChewyInfluencer

Dog parents always have some of the best stories to share. Whether humorous or heartwarming, they're always engaging and they always lead to new friendships. Instant bonds are formed among complete strangers once we start talking about our dogs.

Dog parents not only learn from each other, but we understand the struggle - and the pure joy - of having big-pawed, clumsy, wide-eyed, furry children.

Disclosure: The Lapdogs are Chewy Influencers and received a copy of My Very Good, Very Bad Dog, free of charge, in exchange for spreading the word about the product and Chewy. We only share information that we feel is relevant to our readers. All opinions expressed are our own.

But we can't just spend our days standing around on a street corner waiting for a new dog person to walk by and entertain us with their tales, right?

Thanks to the Chicken Soup for the Soul books for pet lovers, pet parents can get their fix of stories from the comfort of their own home... or that bench at the dog park while you wait for some newbies to show up. ha ha

All kidding aside, there truly is a special bond that pet parents share. The average person will get bored after your fifth story about Fido shredding the newspaper or Trixie following you into the bathroom every morning... but your fellow dog parents will smile and laugh out loud right along with you.

Our friends over at Chewy recently gave us the opportunity to check out one of the titles from the series and while many of them sound like great reads, my choice was pretty easy.

Having raised five spunky, funny, loving, intuitive, loyal - and yes, sometimes independent and a bit naughty - Lapdogs, how could I pass up a title like My Very Good, Very Bad Dog: 101 Heartwarming Stories about Our Happy, Heroic & Hilarious Pets?

My Very Good, Very Bad Dog's 101 short stories are organized into ten perfectly titled chapters:
  1. My Goofy Dog
  2. My Miraculous Dog
  3. My Therapeutic Dog
  4. My Naught but Nice Dog
  5. My Heroic Dog
  6. My Inspiring Dog
  7. My Clever Dog
  8. My Protective Dog
  9. My Working Dog
  10. My Intuitive Dog
I could write at least 101 tales of the Lapdogs and all of them would easily fall into these chapters.

I've read a few other Chicken Soup for the Soul titles in the past and really enjoy the format. I don't always have time to devote to getting into a novel without having to put it down for days - or even weeks - so the short story format really suits my lifestyle.

Most of the tales in this one are just two or three pages long which means I can even prop open the book and read a story or two while knitting, or during a commercial break while watching my favorite TV shows.

The other great thing for us multitasking dog Moms is the fact that there are no rules with this format.

Start with Chapter 1 or Chapter 10... Randomly flip open to any page... If you're like me, it might be whatever page opened when you dropped the book while trying to juggle 101 things at once!

Don't remember what stories you already read? Who cares... you know you're going to enjoy them again anyway.

There are several of the Chicken Soup books in our vet's waiting room. I often glance thru them while we're waiting our turn.

Awe, that dog of yours could in no way be bad! Look at those puppy eyes. I have had my own experience with good dog, bad god, so I am sure I could relate with some of the stories in the book.
