Excuse the lack of a real post today while I enjoy this nice weather... which has inspired me to cast on another Vine Lace Baby hat... in cotton... in very summery colors...

The yarn is Rowan Siena. I'm holding 2 strands together, one each in purple and green... and if I do say so myself, its one stunning combination!

Not quite the springy look, but I recently got a picture of little Julia in her Baby Sprout hat and wanted to share...

I still don't love how that yarn pooled, but she is adorable!

I simply can not believe that my baby is 9 years old today! Where has the time gone?

I just snapped this shot a few minutes ago. The sun in shinning, its 40 degrees already (we're expecting a high of 52) and I'm sure Zeus is well aware that he will have cake, a new Nylabone and a toy or two later today!

Finally Friday

TGIF..... its been a long week and I can't wait to start my weekend! Last weekend was Emma's 1st birthday party and I've finally got pictures to share...

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing at home, tomorrow my plans include dinner with old friends and Sunday, I want to celebrate Zeus' 9th birthday at home with the kids!

We've Got The Power!

I got a few messages yesterday from out-of-state friends checking in on us after they had seen the news of New Hampshire's latest multi-day power outage (especially those who knew of our 9 day ordeal in December '08). While some of our state remains in the dark today, I am more than happy to say we were only without life's essentials (heat, running water, flushing toilet) for 22 hours this time.

One wouldn't think rain and wind would cause as much damage as the ice storm of '08, however it appears that all day torrential rains combined with 50 - 60 mph winds make for far worse destruction. Instead of lots of scattered tree limbs, we're seeing full trees down all over. My drive to work on Friday was quite the adventure (sorry, no pics)... dodging downed trees, impromptu lakes and several detours, not to mention playing a game of Frogger just to get through the intersections (no power = no working traffic lights).
