Mom Update

Mom Update. The official news came yesterday evening... it is (was?) colon cancer. From what I can gather thusfar, the surgeon is pretty confident they got it all... they tested multiple lymph nodes and all came back negative, which is very good and encouraging news. It sounds like the next step will likely be some radiation as a pro-cautionary thing. Mom, needless to say, has gone through freaking out and is now scared and upset. I'm hoping with today comes the realization that the worst is over, we now know what we're dealing with and can move on and treat it. I'm going to bring her copies of all of your wonderful comments on the past few posts for her to read today (I was waiting for her to find them herself once she got home, but I believe they will help to boost her spirits now).... thank you again to everyone's who's been thinking about her, for all your wonderful thoughts & words to both myself & Mom, and please keep her in your thoughts & prayers.

I'll leave you with a couple quotes for the day...

You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it. ~ Maya Angelou

Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find that you have crossed the mountains. ~ Unknown

I'm imagining a small pillow, knitted of forest green chenille and stuffed with dried lavender. Green for healing, lavender for comfort and calm. Continued prayers and hugs included, of course, for both of you.

I'm glad that things are starting to look up for you two. You and your mom will continue to be in my prayers.

Hi Nichole! Please send my best to your Mom. I've been on that road several times with assorted relatives and it has never been an easy journey to complete recovery. God speed to your Mom. As my Grama would say...Keep your chin up!

It can be truly terrifying to all involved when the word cancer is used. It has scared me many times.

Tell your mom that she has you and the rest of the family to lean on. You have the multitude of us. Please let us know when you need to lean.

Oh I am sorry to hear about your Mom.
I will be keeping you both in my prayers!
My Mom had breast cancer twice and then some found high up in the lymph nodes.
It is was very scary emotionally for her and us.
Plus physically draining for her.
Plus unfortunately the chemo is very rough to go through, but so necessary.
I am here if you need a shoulder and an ear.

I cannot imagine what you and your mom have been going through. I'm so glad you got a good report from the surgeon. Such a blessing that they found it at this stage! I'm sending more healing vibes and some extra strength (for you both) as you go through this.

Oh I'm so sorry :( I missed this last time I was here. I'll keep your mom in my prayers, and hope that they DID get it all. Cancer can be so very scary - hopefully, there'll be no more need for fear soon because it'll all be GONE.
