Doggy Day Starts with Tears

Did anyone else catch this story on Good Morning America this morning?

"Hi My Name Is Kujo. I Am a Nice Dog" Abandoned Pup With Child's Note in Collar Looking for a Home...

abc_gma_puppy2_090128_mn

I didn't think I'd be starting my day off with some tears this morning, but what a heartbreaking turned heartwarming story of the beautiful Kujo! The poor pup was abanoned and found emaciated on one of the coldest nights of the year in Ohio. Kujo was peering into the window of Mrs. Miller and it turned out, he picked the right window to peer into! A note was attached proclaiming that he was a very good dog and great with kids, however sadly, his owner was unable to feed or care for him any longer... all in a child's handwring. With the economy, this is becoming far too common... shelters are seeing a huge rise in animals being surrendered simply because their loving owners can no longer afford to care for them. Sad. Tragic.

Please read more about Kujo here. If you're looking for a loving, beautiful pup, you just might be Kujo's new best friend.

Nicole, I saw that! There has been a big problem with dogs being surrendered by active duty military who get deployed and have no one to take care of their pets....Now the economy is making for more issues. How fortunate Kujo is that he found these people.
This is a big reminder that we need to help shelter dogs where we can.

Seems we're of the same mind again. Of course, I have to get time to post first...

How sad! When we were military animal surrender was a huge problem, and growing up in a college town we had a similar issue after graduation or end of year students moving. (that is how we have a cat now) I have heard many folks speak of just abandoning animals due to the fee's or "donations" taken by the pound when trying to drop off an animal. Some at least will lie and claim the animal was a stray to avoid dumping the animal cruely on the street. It is all so sad and frustrating that the economy has even effected our furry friends.

God bless those two angels for taking care of Kujo until a forever home can be found. The tragic part is that there are so many other just like sweet Kujo...

That's awful, but also incredibly sweet. I can't imagine a child having to do that for his dog.

Yes! I saw that. How sad the child had to let the dog go but what a blessing to be found by 2 wonderful ladies.
It just breaks my heart but I know there's a happy ending for Kujo. The poor economy is affecting fur friends too.
