Teutul the Welcome Buddy

Last Saturday I got called upon in my rescue duties when a pup's adoptive Mom was going to be a little late meeting the transport. They were hoping someone could come hang out with the little guy while the transport went on to the next stop. So, off Teutul and I went in the rain to meet Woody...

Is this little beagle/bassett mix not just the cutest? Let me tell you... if he had not had a forever home already, I probably would've ended up fostering him! I brought Tut along figuring he'd be a good "welcome buddy," since dogs coming off the transport are usually a little timid and unsure of what's going on. Well, as soon as Woody got in my car, it took all of about two minutes before he started jumping around, baiting Tut to wrestle and submitting to him. It was hilarious!

Now Tut's first reaction? "Just what the heck is this and why is it in my car?"

In that pic on the right, I swear he was telling Woody "Listen little dude... I am THE baby!" We got to hang out with the little love bug (he was full of kisses) for about 40 minutes before his Mom showed up... and you know me, that's plenty of time for lots of pictures!

Here's the wrestling... the first pic is Tut saying "Mommy, is it really okay for me to wrestle in your car??"

Yes, yes... I fell head over heels for Woody... how could I not? He had the cutest tickle spot too...

I think Tut even bonded with him, although he was definitely happy to see that Woody didn't come home with us. After all, he has enough attention-competition at home...

We had a little adventure and Tut was a wonderful temporary big brother! Now Woody is with his new family, which includes a human big brother who was so excited to meet him and so thankful to me for "holding Woody" for him.

Now before I leave you on this Doggy Thursday, I wanted to send you on over to the contest on Chan's blog. One of my biggest blessings is the unconditional love of my dogs and an extension of that is all of the dogs that I've fostered, transported and/or helped place in their forever homes. There's nothing more gratifying than saving the life of an animal and seeing the joy when they go to their forever home!

What a wonderful post! And how neat that you were able to help in getting a pup to his forever home, we think you are wonderful and Tut did a wonderful job in helping Woody pass the time till he got to be with his new family. Happy DOT's!

I'll second that. It's so good to see the sad, uncertain faces turn into happy confident faces. Good job, both of you.
