Exotic protein sources are becoming more and more popular these days, especially for dogs with food sensitivities and allergies - including the Lapdogs. So when our friends at Chewy gave us the chance to try Caru Soft 'n Tasty Baked Bites, I said yes, please!
Made in small batches in the USA by a family-owned company, Soft 'n Tasty Baked Bites are a wonderful way to reward your dog.
The wide range of recipes, including both conventional and exotic proteins, means there is something to fit just about every dog's dietary needs.
Recipes include Venison, Beef, Chicken, Duck, Salmon, Tuna, Rabbit, Wild Boar, Alligator, Lamb, and Pheasant.
I wanted to let the Lapdogs try one of the more exotic recipes, and after much deliberation, decided on Wild Boar.
Made with wild boar, blueberries and cranberries, the grain-free bites were an immediate hit. The Lapdogs came running as soon as I opened the package, and those noses started twitching with delight at the smell.
The fact that they were immediately drooling for seconds indicates that they were pretty darn good!
Besides the wonderful selection of proteins, I really like that the treats are bite-sized and can easily be broken into smaller bits for training (or tiny mouths).
The fact that they are made in small batches by a family-owned business is just icing on the cake.
I will definitely add the Baked Bites to our treat rotation in the future, and plan to try some of the other exotic recipes with the Lapdogs. After all, what dog doesn't deserve a bite of alligator or pheasant?

I like hearing about new and different protein sources. The boys can't eat beef and I'm not confident about chicken anymore, so these are great companies to keep on the list.
We haven't tried this variety, but my dogs really love Caru Baked Bites. Since my dogs are so small, I like treats that are easy to break into smaller pieces. (Not that my dogs don't want a whole one, I just need to monitor their intake.)

Wild boar? Those are becoming a nuisance in some areas, so it sounds like a great protein source. I'm so glad the Lapdogs got to try out something so wonderful. Hope you have a great weekend, Nic.
