It's a Wrap on Christmas

Did everyone have a Merry Christmas? We hope you all had a festive holiday and were able to slow down long enough to enjoy time spent with loved ones.

It was a wonderful Christmas in the Lapdog household.

Teutul was so fixated on the stockings while I was trying to get a group shot that his sisters gave up.

Having a puppy to experience all the excitement for the very first time sure helped to take my mind off it being the first Christmas without Zeus and Lola.

Before Christmas arrived, we added two more special ornaments to the tree.  The Zeus and Lola one is a really nice heavy pewter ornament from Shutterfly. It was a little pricey, but well worth it.  The frame with Penny's Santa picture was a gift from a dear friend that just so happened to work perfectly for the photo (don't you love it when that happens?).

Penny's excitement was quite contagious. She had her senior siblings romping and wrestling all weekend!  Most of the stocking and present unwrapping pics are on my other camera still, but here are a couple.  ***I apologize for most of the pics in this post being low light quality, but I think they still capture the moments nicely***

After the hustle and bustle of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Lapdogs were happy to have some down time at home with their humans over the weekend.  There was a lot of couch cuddling in between playtime. This was my lap yesterday morning (love the panoramic feature on my phone).  Can you spot Tut's "little" head in the middle?

Now it's back to reality for at least one of the humans... and boy was getting up and out the door to work rough this morning! I'd rather be like Tut... sleeping on a LL Bean personalized dog bone pillow.  sigh...

Thankful Thursday: Bits 'n Pieces

Happy almost Friday!  Since our weekly Wordless Wednesday post was preempted yesterday by Tut's adventure at the PetSmart grooming salon, I thought a random Thankful Thursday post was in order.  Here are just a few of the things I'm thankful for lately...

These three... and cool weekend mornings when they all want to cuddle at once.

Fall in New England... there's nothing quite like it.  Nothing.

Taking day trips to enjoy it with this guy...

And arriving at the White Mountain Cider Co. just in time to score the second to last half-dozen cider donuts of the day... ahhh.

 

The fact that Sophie has bonded so well with Penny.  She and Lola had such a wonderful sister bond... it's nice to see that again.

 

My handsome boy who actually loved his trip to the PetSmart grooming salon.  Doesn't he look so proud?  He's even showing off his clean ears!

 

A sweet girl who loves going to her obedience training class (and a new belt-style treat pouch that doesn't fall off in class)...

Family who "get" my hobbies and treat me to hand-dyed yarns from around the world...

Thankful Thursday: Family Fun

We're still playing catch-up around here from the long weekend (and getting ready for an extra busy one coming up), but we are working hard on several reviews, so stay tuned!

Teutul has been doing well on his bland diet and began transitioning to a new low-fat kibble last night.  We'll be telling you all about it soon!

As if one dog switching food wasn't enough, Sophie has begun her 6 week trial of AvoDerm and we'll be telling you more about that later this month.

Since it's Thankful Thursday, I wanted to share some photos from last weekend's family cook out.  While we missed having most of the family there, those of us who did attend sure had fun.  And... Penny got to meet our former foster baby Rosie and her big sister Rascal!

Rosie was one of those fosters that I had a real hard time letting go of. Thankfully, she went to family friends, so not only do I get regular updates, but we get to spend time with her every now and then.

Penny finally getting to meet Rosie was a little bitter sweet, however. Everyone comments on how much Penny looks and acts like Lola, but seeing her play with Rosie really brought back memories. Lola loved her little Rosie Bear... (#throwbackthursday)

The cookout fell in between several birthdays, including my Mom, myself and Rosie's little human twin siblings (aka my favorite twins)...

So, Mom picked up this birthday cupcake cake.  It was cool, but would have been really cool if it were a hockey puck or football...

Today is actually my Mom's birthday, so please join me in wishing her a very happy one!

Look at the gorgeous roses that my Dad got for me (Mom got a matching dozen)...

After we stuffed our faces, Penny broke out her witch hat to show off for the neighbors for everyone to see.  Is she not the cutest (I call that one on the right, "Penny and Her Headless Mama")? Yes, she will actually leave it on and walk around.

She even let Rosie try it on.

She let Rascal try it on as well, but it was a bit small and she wouldn't leave it on long enough for a picture.  The gorgeous girl was too busy trying to impersonate a cow. 

Penny got to try out the new "claw" pet tie-out that I found at LL Bean.  I was a bit skeptical and had visions of her pulling it right out of the ground and running off...

Neither of which happened = This thing is awesome!  It just might be one of the things I'm most thankful for today.  It's going to make future family cook outs and events so much easier.
