Disclosure: The Lapdogs are Chewy Influencers and received a case of BLUE Wilderness Bayou Blend, free of charge, in exchange for spreading the word about the product and Chewy. We only share information that we feel is relevant to our readers. All opinions expressed are our own.
Unique protein sources are becoming more popular in dog food and BLUE does not disappoint. In fact, dogs no longer need to be born on the bayou to enjoy tasty reptiles!
BLUE Bayou Blend combines nutritious, high quality alligator meat with catfish and shrimp, creating a delicious Southern cuisine fit for most any dog.
I say most because Sophie was unable to try it, as shrimp is on her "red" list of foods and while it was far enough down on the ingredient list that it probably wouldn't make a big impact, it was just easier to avoid it. Also, if you have a dog with a poultry allergy, do note that Bayou Blend also contains chicken and turkey.
Teutul was happy to catch some gator that couldn't bite back...
Bayou Blend is made without the grains that contain gluten, and free from chicken/poultry by-product meals. It's also free from artificial preservatives, colors and flavors.
The Lapdogs had their tails wagging as soon as I opened up a can of Bayou Blend for dinner (we use wet food as a topper), and both Penny and Tut gobbled it all up with no complaints. There was quite a bit of post-dinner bowl licking going on to make sure that no one left a tasty morsel behind.
True Blue Promise
- Formulated with the Finest Natural Ingredients
- Protein-Rich Alligator
- NO Chicken/Poultry By-Product Meals
- NO Corn, Wheat or Soy
- NO Artificial Preservatives, Colors or Flavors
Bayou Blend has been optimally balanced to give dogs more of the protein they crave, plus the wholesome nutrition they need. It's a sensible alternative to less conventional raw diets which can not only be time consuming and messy, but often require extra supplements to be nutritionally complete.
And, you don't even have to leave home to catch some... just ask Tut!
You can satisfy your dog's wild side and order a case of Bayou Blend from Chewy, where 1-2 day shipping is always free on orders of $49+. In addition to the canned option that we tried, BLUE also makes Bayou Blend kibble and treats.

OMD! That looks utterly scrumptious! You are lucky to have taste tested that!
We dont usually feed wet, just kibble with freese dried raw topper but this looks good
hmmmm.... wondering now if Montecristo would eat "exotic" meat. I mean the boy has been known to snub filet mignon! LOL Could be fun to try though!
I'm not really sure how I feel about exotic meat, but I know my dogs would probably love it. Does it have a strong odor? I gave my dogs treats made with gator meat, and they had a very strong scent. I wasn't a fan, but the dogs didn't mind it all.
Haha, LUCKILY you don't have to go out and catch an Alligator for dinner :D! This seems like a great brand. It's important to know what we feed our dogs! I wouldn't want too many artificial colors or flavors in my dogs their food. I also want to make sure my dogs don't get any left-over meat from rendering!
We tried the Bayou Biscuits last month. They were a huge hit. I bet that food would be a good one to hide pills in. :)
I love Cajun/Creole food and bet my dogs would, too! The Ginger Sisters have had alligator treats before and liked them a lot.
