Sleeps with Dogs

I accomplished a bit of knitting over the weekend (2 FO's, 6 skeins of yarn wound, 1 newly cast on project and worked a few rows on a couple of WIP's), but don't have any photos to share, so instead I have a little doggy poem fun to kick off my big guy's birthday week. Its hard to believe Zeus is turning 7 on Friday and while he has long since been kicked out of the bed by the other dogs, he was still the first to wake Mommy up with a nibble on the nose!

~Sleeping With Your Dog~
Now I lay me down to sleep,
The king-size bed is soft and deep.
I sleep right in the center groove
My human being can hardly move!
I've trapped her legs, she's tucked in tight
And here is where I pass the night
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and "I want food!"
I sneak up slowly to begin
my nibbles on my human's chin.
She wakes up quickly,
I have sharp teeth-
I'm a puppy, don't you see?
For the morning's here
and it's time to play
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you Lord for giving me
This human person that I see.
The one who hugs and holds me tight
And shares her bed with me at night!

Now the early morning nose nibbling job belongs to Sophie...

What a great poem! And my 10 yr old still wakes me up way too early in the AM.

I am exhausted by your knitting weekend!! Great jobs. I have been laboring over a simple baby cardi so long I can't bear to pick it up again.

Someone has been peeping through our windows. Sissy and Mugsy both pile into the bed...

Happy early birthday wishes, Zeus!

Awe. Loved the poem. In our house it's a cold nose "tap" from Jackjack that wakes us up. If that doesn't work then comes the talking and nose "pushes." Those are fun. He also will put his nose in the covers and pull them off. I swear he is the smartest dog. :)

What a great poem. If you replace the dog with cats, they pull your hair instead of nibbling on your nose. And Angus used to come up to the side of the bed (he never really wanted to sleep in the bed - it was too high) and snuffle (the doggy version of a kid's really loud whisper) in my face.
