We were recently invited to review Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Turkey & Potato Recipe dog food and jumped at the opportunity!  As a concerned dog Mama, I am always reading labels and trying to find the best options for our family.  With 2 of the 4 Lapdogs on a grain free diet, I was very interested in learning more about this variety of Nutrish. 

Rachael Ray worked with a team of pet nutrition experts to create Nutrish, a line of pet foods made with simple, natural ingredients. Zero Grain, Rachael's first grain-free food for dogs, is natural and easily digestible.  It's also easily accessible, as you can find Nutrish almost anywhere you shop for your family's groceries!  That means you no longer have to make a special trip to the pet food store or order online to get a high quality, grain free kibble for your pack! 

As the name implies, Zero Grain is completely free of grains.  Additionally, it is free of glutens, fillers, by-products, artificial preservatives, colors and flavors.  No junk here! Instead, what you will find is a natural and wholesome allergy-friendly food for your dog.  The very first ingredient is US farm-raised turkey, with turkey meal second.  Easily digestible carbohydrates are included in the form of whole potatoes, peas and tapioca. Whole flaxseed and poultry fat allow dogs to get protein from fat instead of grains and are a naturally-rich source of Omega-6 and -3 fatty acids.  Various essential vitamins and chelated minerals are also included.  In addition to the natural, wholesome recipe, Zero Grain is Made in the USA - my #1 priority when it comes to what my dogs eat!

If a no grain, allergy-friendly food made in the USA and easy to find isn't enough to get you and your dog to bite, let me tell you how Zero Grain benefits shelter dogs too!  Proceeds from each bag of Nutrish go to Rachael's Rescue, an organization helping animals in need.  To date, Rachael's Rescue has helped raise more than $4.2 million toward food, medical supplies and treatments for shelter animals.  You will smile a little more when you realize what you feed your dog is benefiting another animal who is longing for his or her forever home.  

Add in my love of all things Rachael Ray, and you'll truly understand how excited I am to be able to review and tell you all about Zero Grain.  As of right now, it is only available in the Turkey & Potato recipe, however I do hope to see the line grow to include other proteins.  Specifically, I hope to see a fish recipe in the coming months, as that is what I prefer to feed to Sophie and Tut, my two dogs on a grain free diet.  Additionally, I know of several dogs with poultry and beef allergies and while turkey is a great choice, it does not necessarily benefit all allergy prone dogs.
