If you're a regular reader of this blog, you already know how much the Lapdogs love it when a Chewy box shows up on our doorstep.  You probably also know that their Mama loves the great folks over at Chewy and at Merrick, so imagine all of the excitement when we got the chance to review Merrick Big Brush Bones!

I'm always looking for ways to, ah-hum, improve the Lapdogs' breath and keep their aging smiles gleaming bright.  When I heard about Merrick's line of grain-free dental treats, I knew we had to try them!

2014-07-10_01-58-22Made in the USA with all-natural ingredients, Big Brush Bones are intended for dogs weighing 25 pounds or more (we've got that covered, easily).  The green bone-shaped treats are grain-free and gluten-free.  The ingredients (Potato Starch, Vegetable Glycerin, Dried Plain Beet Pulp, Cane Molasses, Chicken Fat, Natural Chicken Flavor, Water, Alfalfa Nutrient Concentrate [source of chlorophyll], Lecithin, Dried Cultured Skim Milk, Parsley) support fresh breath, while the shape and texture have been designed to combat plaque and tartar.

And, as far as I can tell, the Lapdogs certainly support Merrick's claim that all dogs love the taste!  After they all patiently waited while their crazy Mama snapped photos for this review, they each happily found a spot on the deck and chomped away for a few minutes.  Big Brush Bones did not disappoint!  I think Zeus' smile says it all...

Big Brush Bones not exactly a fit for your tiny pup? No worries, Merrick does not discriminate - there's a dental treat for pooches of all sizes! The line includes Big Brush Bones for dogs 25+ pounds, Lil' Brush Bones for dogs 15-25 pounds, and Mini Brush Bones for dogs 5-15 pounds, as well as Flossies and Texas Toothpicks chews, each for dogs 15+ pounds.  The easily digestible line is intended for all life stages as well.

The Lapdogs love their Big Brush Bones, but shhhh, help me keep the secret.  Don't tell them their actually cleaning their teeth while crunching up their t-r-e-a-t!  We will definitely be adding these to our regular rotation.

How about you, does your dog need a little help keeping his breath and smile gleaming?  Head on over to Chewy.com and snatch some up.  As always, all Chewy.com orders over $49 receive free 1-2 day shipping, so be sure to stock up on some other delicious Merrick treats as well (the Lapdogs are partial to the Grammy's Pot Pie crunchy treats).

Disclosure: Chewy.com sent a bag of Merrick Big Brush Bones to Lapdog Creations, free of charge for review purposes. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions expressed are my own.

We're fans of non-rawhide chews around here, so we'll have to see if they come in a fur-girl-appropriate size... and if the ingredients work for us.

It is always nice to have a bit of mint to the dog smoochies around here. We have never tried these but will definately have to check them out now. Thanks for the wonderful review and info :)
