Thankful for the Memories

While deciding whether today's post was going to be another "Thankful Thursday" installment or a book review/giveaway, I found myself searching through old photos... and lots of great memories.  I was actually looking for a couple of nice shots of Zeus for another review item when I found myself pausing to look at some old shots of my other kids as well.  Of course, this lead to lots of smiles and, yes, several tears.  I just miss my big, lovable guy and his sister so, so much.

I decided today's post would be a Thankful Throw-Back.  Here are a few of the shots that randomly caught me eye, bringing up some wonderful memories...

This snowy-nose shot of Zeus from 2008 has always been a favorite.  He looks so regal, yet the snow on his nose just makes me laugh.

I forgot about this cute kissy-shot from 2011 with our foster pup Skipper.  Zeus enjoyed having little house guests to mentor and play with.

Here's another of my all-time favorite shots, Lola in 2011.  That head tilt always got me.  She knew how to work it... "whatever Lola wants, Lola gets."

I couldn't help buy smile when I came across this shot of Tut and Lola from 2009 holding hands.

Once she could no longer get up on the couches, he spent many hours just lying by her side back in January.  It still breaks my heart.

Here's a favorite shot of Sophie from 2009.  Such a sweet, sleepy tan face... it's hard to believe how white her muzzle and face have become.

Look at that squishy little puppy-faced Princess back in 2008.  My super shy girl has come a long, long way since then.

Speaking of aging faces, here's Tut in 2008... much less gray than he is today!

Look at my whole crew hanging out on the deck in 2009. Sure, I love spending time out there with Tut, Sophie and Penny (when it hasn't been scorching hot, that is), but it really makes me miss Zeus and Lola. They both loved nothing more than just lounging out there for hours on end... especially Zeus, who would spend the whole day out there if you let him.

And because I could never leave that growing-faster-than-a-weed little girl of mine out, here's Penny at approximately 5 weeks of age...

I miss Zeus and Lola more than words can say, but am so thankful for so many wonderful memories, and for the memories we continue to make with Tut, Sophie and Penny. The joy they bring to our lives is immeasurable.

What are you thankful for today?

Those pictures of Zeus nearly made me cry he reminds me so much of Norbert. I miss them so much but Im so grateful that they had long lives. i think in the last year of Tubby and Norberts life i was almost obsessed with their health and worried endlessly about their passing, I wish I had just enjoyed every moment instead, but alas thats not me. Im so glad they had long happy lives and I feel so lucky to have them so long. Watching Tuvok and Fry who are so different from Norbert and Tubby grow up reminds me of Tubby and Norbert's youth. Yesterday, we were walking and a bunch of kids outside of an apartment wanted to pet the dogs and were screaming and jumping about and generally going a bit crazy. The pugs and Tuvok where fine with it. Now Norbert and Tubby in the last years of their lives would have absolutely HATED that and of course I would have crossed the street and avoided it. But watching the kids and Tuvok Fry and Weasley reminded me of when Norbert and Tubby where younger and less easily overwhelmed. Now they were never aggressive in their old age but they were a bit curmudgeonly. So I guess Im thankful for the way our new dogs bring back memories of the old ones

It's wonderful that as a blogger you can document your life with your pet and preserve the memories. Mom really wished she could have done it when she had the 3 cats but is very thankful that she is a blogger now and will always have it to look back on. Love Dolly

Those are some sweet memories. I especially like how Tut stayed close to Lola when she needed him most. Fudge stays near Morgan too.

Those are really sweet and touching photos. Your crew seems so tightly bonded and careful with one another. What a gift.
