3.1 Miles Can Help Save a Life #ASPCAVirtual5K

It's no secret that the Lapdog household is a big proponent for pet adoption. In fact, we have been involved in dog rescue for many years - transporting, fostering, and adopting - and we support rescues and shelters whenever we can, including the ASPCA.

We are also trying to be more active, and trying to get out for more walks and hikes, especially with Penny who is still so full of energy. So, when I heard about the ASPCA Virtual 5K, I knew it was a perfect fit!

This June, Penny and I will walking 3.1 miles in the ASPCA Virtual 5K!

Would you like to join us?

It doesn't matter where you live, you can join the ASPCA Virtual 5K from anywhere!

This unique, virtual race allows you to complete the race at your own pace, in your own time, and to customize your fundraising experience. There are no minimums to meet, which means there is also no pressure! However, you can earn some great ASPCA-branded prizes at several different fundraising levels!

Once you have registered (there is a small fee), you will get a customized link to your personal fundraising page where you can set your goal and share it with family and friends.

Then, all you need to do is complete your 5K (3.1 miles) between June 10 and 30. You can run, walk, swim, cycle, or use any other method or terrain you prefer (where are my horseback riding friends at?)!

And, the best part, you can even include your 4-legged family members (there is a small extra fee to cover their registration). Penny will be walking with me and will receive an ASPCA Virtual 5K medal of her very own!

Please support our #ASPCAVirtual5K walk

Would you help us, to help them?

I am excited and honored to be raising the awareness and the much needed funding to support the ASPCA's programs.

Penny and I would love it if you would consider helping us reach our fundraising goals. You can donate through our personal #ASPCAVirtual5K page, where 100% of your donation will go to the ASPCA, and your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed under applicable law.

Your donation will help the ASPCA continue to provide local and national leadership in three key areas: caring for pets and pet parents, providing positive outcomes for at-risk animals, and serving victims of animal cruelty.

The ASPCA is very important to us and we appreciate your help as we fight to end animal cruelty, homelessness and neglect.

What a wonderful and easy way for everyone to join in at their own pace and help those pets in need! Best of luck on reaching your fundraising goal.

A very interesting "twist" on the typical dog walk. I have organised, and participated in several, and they can be nerve wracking. Will we get a huge turnout, will the weather be kind to us or will downpours cancel our well laid plans. Giving everyone the opportunity to walk when they have time, while still being able to support a cause they believe in is a very clever idea. It will be interesting to see if other organisations jump on that bandwagon and add another element to their fundraising efforts.

I love that this is a virtual race. I really need to go ahead and register. We have done your typical rescue walk 5Ks before and they can be a little... much. Best of luck meeting your fundraising goal. I can't wait to see Penny in her medal! :)

What a great fundraising idea! Sophie gets overexcited during 5Ks with other dogs so we can do this during our own walks.

This is a fabulous idea! Especially, for dogs who don't socialize well with others. Or dogs that are fearful and overwhelmed in that type of situation.

What a cool idea. I haven't heard about this before. I actually just completed a 5K with my daughter last week too bad I didn't know about this or could have signed up.

WHenever I see a benefit like this that helps animals in need, I am thrilled. I wish for all the homeless pets of the world to find loving forever homes.

You guys are such an inspiration. It's so important to actually do something vs just talking about it. I could look at photos of Penny all day. She seems like such a happy girl. Good luck!

Four of my five pets were rescues. Any future pets will also be rescues. I wish I could save all the animals!

Wow I love this idea! We have the annual dog walk that is pretty big where we are but we haven't participated before! This is something I need to look into!

I had no ideas they had events like that. My puppy is from the shelter, but we only got him a month ago, so I am pretty new to this
