At the beginning of August, I opened my mailbox to find a package from Debbie Bliss. Inside were two skeins from the Fall 2012 Collection and I immediately began to fondle one in particular, Winter Garden. I'll admit, I couldn't keep my hands off this gorgeous, uber soft skein of yarn! And, just look at that Berry colorway!
Winter Garden is a luscious blend of 30% baby llama, 30% merino wool, 20% silk and 20% linen. O.M.G., this stuff is to die for! With it's beautiful tweed look and super bulky weight, Winter Garden is perfect for quick projects like hats, mittens and cowls. Each hank is 100 grams, 109 yards. Made in Argentina, Winter Garden calls for size US 13 needles and hand washing.
I immediately began looking for the perfect one-skein cowl or scarf project to cast on. Did I mention how incredibly soft this yarn is? I needed to use it on a project that would be close to my skin. Enter The Amelia Scarf (free downloadble pattern on Ravelry), a cozy scarf to wrap around my neck all winter long! The quick and easy pattern (yes, I should be finished now but I keep getting distracted from the project), Amelia is very suitable to Winter Garden and the combo is sure to please many females on your Christmas knitting list this year!I can't express to you enough how much I love knitting with Winter Garden. It glides over your fingers like butter... except, you know, without the stickiness and mess. I *heart* this yarn and will surely purchase it in the future.
