REVIEW: Lazy Dog Cookie Co.

Lazy Dog Cookie Co.
Where to Find: Lazy Dog Cookies Online Store

LazyDog LazyDog2

When I saw the name Lazy Dog Cookie Co., I instantly thought "perfect treats for the Lapdogs - they know lazy!"

LazyDog5Lazy Dog Cookie Co. was formed in 2001 when Amy Augustine decided to combine her love for dogs with her entrepreneurial spirit.  Using her degree in Biology and vegetarian knowledge, Amy began to develop human grade dog treats in her home kitchen.  In 2007, the company's most successful product, the Pup-PIE, was launched.  The themed 10-slice dog treats are topped with freeze-dried fruits, nuts and vegetables.  Shortly after the launch, Amy's husband was able to leave his job at the H.J. Heinz Company and join Lazy Dog Cookie Co., which is now located in 13,000 square foot facility in Ballston Spa, NY.

LazyDog_Zeus2The Pup-PIE originally caught my attention last summer when I went to pick up Lola's birthday cake. The store was out of our usual doggy cakes, so I opted for a cute pink and white birthday Pup-PIE. I loved that it was all natural and baked with real fruits and vegetables ... the Lapdogs loved that it was a yummy treat! The entire line of soft baked Pup-PIEs are made with organic ingredients and packed with real fruits and veggies.  They are low allergen and come in 6 flavors; Happy Birthday, Deep Dish Pizza, Home-style Pumpkin, Banana Nut Brownie, Old Fashioned Apple and Carob Peanut Butter.  We received the Carob Peanut Butter and Deep Dish Pizza for review.  The Lapdogs couldn't get enough of either flavor, but I think if they had to choose they might favor the Carob Peanut Butter just a bit... after all, I have 4 peanut butter fiends!

Pup-Squeaks are Lazy Dog Cookie Co.'s other signature item.  Made with 100% natural and organic ingredients, they're not only doggy drool worthy, but doggy Mama approved!  Pup-Squeaks are also vegetarian approved, vegan and free of wheat, corn and soy.  In addition, they are available in a grain free recipe, as well as a soft baked recipe.  We received 2 of the crunchy kinds to try, Grain-Free Vanilla Sweet Potato and Ginger Pumpkin Crunch.  I'd like to tell you which one the Lapdogs preferred, but they gobbled both kinds up equally!

LazyDog4Lazy Dog Cookie Co. has officially received the 16 Paws Up Lapdog Seal of Approval!  Actually, they got 20 paws up because little Harper was here when we were taste-testing the Pup-Squeaks.  Harper seemed to favor the Ginger Pumpkin Crunch and I can't blame her... they smelled fantastic!  More paws still, we could go for 24 paws up if you clicked the link above to see little Rosie enjoying a taste of Lola's birthday pie last July!

As for the Lapdogs, they can't wait for Mama to get more Lazy Dog Cookie Co. stuff for them.  In fact, Lola just happened to sniff out some Pup-PIES yesterday when we stopped in a local doggy store.  Smart girl... she knows what she likes!  She thinks your pack will like them too and urges you to pick some up!

Squee for the squeaks! I love that more and more companies are realizing there are a host of allergy dogs out there who need vegan, corn (et al) free treats that aren't cardboard. YES!!

Love the idea of the Pup PIEs! I may have to see about getting one for Micro for his birthday. :D

The Pup Pie is in ten pieces? Hmmm...

Now really have you found treats that your pack doesn't like? Didn't think so.

It's nice that they're waiting patiently while you take their pictures. I'm glad you've found yet more treats the Lapdogs like!
