YouLuckyDog

You Luky Dog is a book for all of my fellow crafy doggy Mamas (and Dadas) out there! Whether you knit, sew, felt or just dabble with scissors and glue on the weekends, there's something in here for you and your pooch.

We all love to spoil our loved ones with handmade items, so why settle for store-bought accessories when you can make special items for your furbaby - or your friend's new puppy, your boyfriend's Grandmother's trusty companion or a special shelter dog in need? These one-of-a-kind projects will have dogs yapping happily for days!

Any dog owner will tell you that each and every pooch has a distinct personality, which means some handmade items are more appropriate than others, depending upon the canine type. All of the items in You Lucky Dog are specifically tailored for—and organized by - six key canine types. After getting through the Basic Dogma section, which includes a Pooch-onality Quiz and basic instructions for knitting, crochet and sewing, you find the projects for: The Best Friend... The Diva... The Rocker... The Good Sport... The Misfit... and The Social Butterfly. With 4 furbabies full of personality and attitude all their own, I know I can personally craft from any of these categories and have an appropriate match!

The knitting projects are what stand out to me the most, however this non-seamstress is really thinking about giving some of the sewing projects a go! I was impressed that You Lucky Dog even thinks a little green with some of the said sewing projects. The Li'l Buddy T-Shirt uses an old (or new) human t-shirt to start and My Pillow Bed is a great use for old bed pillows! There's loads of projects for you to use up your scraps of fabric as well.

Some of my favorite projects include:

  1. Road Trip Booster Seat, such a cute alternative to store bought doggy seats.
  2. Tag Silencers, with some craft felt, a needle and thread you can silence Fido's tags with a skull, hamburger, hyrdrant, kitty, heart or bone - too cute!
  3. Dressed to Frill Sweater, simple, yet sweet with a cute ruffle around the toosh.
  4. Sporty Sleeping Bag, which I bet my Sophie would love! Your pooch can use it as a bed to lie on or get inside and hang out under the "covers."
  5. Water-Bottle Collar, a cute and fun way for your pup to carry his or her own water bottle.

I could go on and on - there are more cute projects, one after another, including lots of bedding options, a great crate cover, lots of toys, reflective leashes and more! So don't wait, grab You Lucky Dog, get your craft on and show your pooch's personality with some amazing handmade accessories!

Sounds like this non-sewer can sit this one out, although the felted tag silencer could be useful...
