Where to Find: Arenus
When the folks at Arenus contacted me about doing another product review, I jumped at the chance. Their health and nutrition products are top notch and we've enjoyed reviewing them in the past. But when they told me this review would be for CoatPlus, I couldn't have been more excited! Both Teutul and Sophie suffer from seasonal allergies and I was in the market for the right Omega-3 fatty acid supplement. Sophie had actually just been to the vet for an ear infection and was sent home with instructions to add a fatty acid supplement to her diet. The bottle of CoatPlus Large Breed couldn't have arrived at a more perfect time!
I have been giving CoatPlus to Sophie for about a month now and have indeed seen an improvement in her skin and coat! She is getting the recommended dosage (1 capsule per day of the Large Breed formula) with her dinner, although I think she would eat the capsule all by itself thanks to the apparently yummy beef flavoring. Unlike some fatty acid supplements that have a distinct fishy smell, CoatPlus has no unpleasant odors. Additionally, CoatPlus provides her not only with the Omega-3 fatty acids she needs, but a dose of Vitamin E as well.
I am more than pleased with CoatPlus and will be keeping Sophie on it going forward. At $29.95 per bottle of 120 capsules, this works out to be about $7.50 per month - a total bargain when it means my baby is not itching and creating scabs on herself!
Now for some 411 from Arenus:
Does your dog constantly scratch or shed excessively? He may not be getting enough Omega-3 fatty acids. Proper fatty acid nutrition is essential for maintaining a healthy skin and coat for your dog. Without these beneficial fats, or the proper balance between Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, dogs may develop a dull coat, with brittle hairs that break easily and shed. In addition, fatty acid deficiency may result in flaky, itchy, and scaly skin.
But there is relief for your dog. Research has proven that supplementing your dog’s diet with fish oil can support a more healthy skin and coat. While many dog foods provide enough fat as a whole, they may not contain sufficient levels of Omega-3 fatty acids. Necessary levels of omega-3’s, such as eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), are less common in pet food because the combination of these two together occurs in significant concentrations only in marine oil sources.
This is why so many pet parents choose to add fish oil to their dog’s diet. CoatPlus by Arenus is a nutritional supplement that will supply your dog with the daily recommended allowance of Omega-3 fatty acids in a convenient, soft-gel capsule. This high-quality, concentrated fish oil is an excellent source of EPA and DHA. CoatPlus also provides the additional vitamin E that is nutritionists generally recommend when consuming fatty acids. Available in beef-flavored capsules dogs love, so it’s easy to give!
