The Wine Trap Holds More Than Just Wine + COUPON

Disclosure: The Wine Trap sent a wine carrier to Lapdog Creations in exchange for our honest review. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions expressed are my own.

If you've been following us for a while, you may be aware that I was born and raised on "the other Cape" - Cape Ann, that is.

Hailing from America's Oldest Seaport (Gloucester, Massachusetts), I've always been partial to the sea and fishing communities. And, with a love of all things handmade, I am always willing to help promote my fellow artisans.

So, as soon as I heard about The Wine Trap, I had to learn more.

What exactly is The Wine Trap, you ask?

In short, The Wine Trap is a wine tote or "gift bag."  A take-off of a real lobster trap, it was designed to gift or display your favorite bottle of wine.

Each one is handmade with actual lobster trap materials in Gloucester by a group of folks who love lobstering, fishing and drinking (my native people are a fun bunch).
"We are a crafty family with deep roots in fishing that go back to the early 1900s. After a few cocktails one evening, we tried to figure out a way to share our passion for the ocean with the world. After several hours of crimping and bending The Wine Trap was born."
Not only did they craft something that is fun and creative, but quite useful too.

Forget about those paper wine bags that just end up in the trash.  Make your gift stand out with something the recipient can use again and again.

Some people may opt to "recycle" The Wine Trap and use it the next time they gift an adult beverage. You could start a tradition among friends or family and keep the gift going, bringing it back and forth to each other's homes.

Or, if you're like me, you'll find several ways to "upcycle" The Wine Trap in your own home (note to family and friends, I'm not giving mine up... get your own!).

I've already discovered many ways to use ours, including two of my favorite things - holding yarn and corralling dog toys.  Although Penny was a little confused as to why this thing was holding her tennis balls hostage, as you will see in the video below.

Let's get back to the yarn for a moment.  I don't need to tell you how awesome The Wine Trap stuffed full of hand-dyed yarn would be as a gift, but... it's also great for multi-color projects.  Just line up your yarn cakes inside, pull the ends through the trap and you're instantly organized - no tangled yarn!

Here's a few other ways I would use mine....

Put a LED candle inside and you've got yourself a really cool lantern to light your deck on summer nights.

Fill it with suet cakes and the birds will think it's the best thing since torn up bread.

Keep your kitchen organized by using The Wine Trap to house plastic bags.

Got a beach themed wedding planned? Turn The Wine Trap into floral centerpieces.

And of course, with Mother's Day coming up, The Wine Trap makes a great gift basket for anything Mom loves. Stuff it with gardening supplies, decorative towels, a beach cover-up, flip flops, yarn for my fellow #DogMomsWhoKnit and of course, wine or craft beer works great too!

The Lapdogs say it would also be a much welcomed gift for new pet parents when stuffed with toys, treats and grooming supplies.

That is the neatest thing. I immediately thought of Larry the Lobster livng in it, but the yarn idea is great. It'll corral those loose balls when working on a multi color project. Love it!

A dowel and ribbon and you've got a great ribbon organizer/holder!

It's really ingenious! But I think Penny's right, and it was mean of the Wine Trap to trap her tennis balls.

The first thing I thought when seeing this is what a great bird feeder this would make! It's very unique indeed.

I've seen a lobster trap before, but never a wine trap! Cool idea; even better for holding loose toys!

That would be great for Jaxson to use at the beach. I could keep a few floaty toys in there and add some string. That way we're sure not to loose it. Thanks for the tip.
